while I'm at it...

I stopped by my favorite LYS yesterday and modeled my latest FO for them, Ariann. It was knit in Blue Moon Fiber Arts' Woobu, colorway Motley Hue. When that batch of yarn came in, everyone else looked at it and was underwhelmed, to say the least. But I could see that there was something special lurking there, so I took it outside, which is where it REALLY shines; it reminds me of a grey pearl. In the sunlight, you can see hints of blues, greens, pinks, and purples, all mixed in with the grey. I'll have to try to get some better pictures of the sweater, plus a closeup on the lovely buttons that I found.

I'll also note that it was a surprising bargain of a sweater! I bought two hanks of the Woobu, thinking I'd be cutting it close, but I could shorten the sleeves if necessary. I made the 40.5" size, long-sleeved version calls for 1250 yards, and each 8 oz hank of Woobu is 620 yds. I've got 2 oz. (~155 yards) left over! Luxury sweater for $60? Yes, please!

Oh, you want to see what it looks like? Here you go!

NOT a sock

Sometimes I knit things other than socks. See:

This was a project from the cruise - it's a little purse out of Tilli Thomas Pure & Simple (the body) and Rock Star (the ruffle at the top - it's silk with a metallic thread and beads). I'm scared to actually take it anywhere because I just know I'll snag it terribly, but it's just so cute. I started this on Friday and finished it yesterday.

There you go...not socks.

And that applies to these, as well:

* It's not super easy to tell in this picture (middle of the day, bright sun, washed out colors), but the colors are fairly different in the two socks. In one, the lightest color is pink, in the other, the lightest color is more purple. Heh.
