Book Quotes

From Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert --------
"Diaries were horribly organized and awfully prescriptive. They involved dates and plans and regular entries and the suffocating weight of commitment.
Journals, on the other hand, were deliciously wild and lawless things. One could abandon a journal for weeks then crack it open one Saturday evening under the influence of wine and marshmallows without an ounce of guilt."
-------
"It sounds like your dreams broke, and you've been picking up shattered pieces and blaming yourself when your hands bleed."
--------
"You can't avoid trying at anything in case you fail. Failure is a necessary part of growth."

Tiger Woods doesn't know where I live.

Goodness, I can't believe how long I've been gone. Just over five years since I did a longer post. I've gotten a couple 'friends feed' notices plus a couple real world reminders about journaling so it was on my mind to get back on here.

I don't plan on catching up on the five plus years on the friends feed, maybe a month or two back? Hope y'all doing good and healthy.

A Friday Fiver

1. Where were you on September 8, 1966? Did you watch the first episode of Star Trek that evening? If you are too young --
     did your parents watch it?

2. Who is your favorite Star Trek captain, and why?
3. Who is your favorite Star Trek character of all time, and why?
4. Which Star Trek series is your favorite, and why?
5. Which Star Trek movie is your favorite, and why?

1. Wasn't born yet and I don't know if parents ever watched it on it's first run. But I do know my dad watched the reruns.

2. Picard. Seemed more of a peacekeeper. Not as arrogant as Kirk.

3. Film, Scotty's son/grandson? who was killed when doors closed on him (I think).  I connected to the high jinks he was
subjected to. His eagerness to impress. Series, Wes Crusher since he was around my age. Liked Q, too.

4. Deep Space Nine-- I liked the way it opened-- a bit like 2001:A Space Odyssey. The openess of space was vast
compared to the original Star Trek 'faked' space. But liked Picard's overall best.

5. The original Khan one (where a certain crew member dies and then comes back to life).

You're never too old to... fall in love again...

When I first heard of this I thought of that plotline on Queer as Folk--the American one, not sure if the original British version has the same plotline-- and thought I hope his kids don't shun his husband after dad's death like the show version did.

Clean jokes.

After church one Sunday morning, a mother commented, "The choir was awful this morning."
The father commented, "The sermon was too long."
Their 7-year-old daughter added, "You've got to admit it was a pretty good show for a dollar."

"Do you sing?"
"Of course I do."
"What kind of music?"
"Aquapella."
"Don't you mean 'a cappellla', singing without accompaniment?"
"Nope. I mean 'aquapella,' singing accompanied only by the water coming out of the shower head."

Judi stormed up the the front desk of the library and said, "I have a complaint!"
"Yes, ma'am?"
"I borrowed a book last week and it was horrible!"
"What was wrong with it?"
"It had way too many characters and there was no plot whatsoever!"
The libratian nodded and said, "Ahhh. So you must be the person who took our phone book."

Tradition here in this office is to keep a notepad with the punch lines from the various jokes that pass through. I was flipping pages and found "Turtles have such tiny ears!" I couldn't remember the joke. After searching everyone's memory banks, one of the folks finally remembered: "Why is turtle wax so expensive?"

Easy-Peeling Eggs question

Hey Y'all!
Was wondering what's your best way for boiled eggs and getting the shells off easy so that they will look nice as deviled eggs.
Do you 'hot start' or 'cold start' the boil? Add salt or baking soda to the water? Ice bath the eggs afterwards or just run cold water over the eggs for a few minutes? If you put them in fridge after cooking but before shelling, how do you easy-peel the eggs then?
