Finally - Finals

It's the most dreaded week of college - finals week. For once, I'm glad. I'm exhausted and hungry and I want some decent TV. There's only so much Lifetime, USA, and TruTV a person can take.

For once, I only have two finals to do. I had final projects, but those have been taken care of.

The best part of finishing the semester?

I finally, FINALLY get to be around animals again and work on my writing. The absolute worst part of living on campus is the no pets rule - I'm sorry but fish and hermit crabs ARE NOT pets! In the past two weeks I've been to the farm and gotten to hug my horses, cuddle with Cooper, and love on Jet, but it's not the same as being around them all the time.

Boo doesn't know it yet, but he's gonna be sleeping in my bed this summer. I miss the little cuddle bug Yorkie.

On another note, both SOLE SURVIVOR and the new novella AGAINST THE CLOCK are available on Smashwords and Amazon, and SOLE SURVIVOR is on Barnes & Noble, kobo, Sony, and more. Also, the script version of AGAINST THE CLOCK is free on my website - http://tmcarper.webs.com/Freebies/…

No, I didn't fall off the face of the earth...

My new medicine schedule is driving me crazy! Almost every other day it makes me sick and between that and all the jobs I'm working, I admittedly haven't spent a lot of time on the computer or updating this. Which sucks because I like writing down what's going on.

So here's just a few updates on the wacky world I live in...

Writing -- Fan Fics:
Yes, I am trying desperately to get back to work on Guilty As Charged. Currently, I've written about half of the next chapter. I was shocked to see that almost a month has passed since I last updated. I feel terrible. Hopefully the next chapter will be worth it. It's been a tricky chapter to write since I had to do some legal research to make sure I was correct about the Miranda rights. I'm shooting to have the chapter completed and updated by Wednesday.

Writing -- Novels:
Most of my writing lately has been novels. nina_rippnerand I are collaborating on a few works and I just decided this morning that I'm dragging Back on Track out of hiding and doing an overhaul to complete it and try and get it published eventually. The series that Back on Track belongs to will actually tie-in with the Coldest Degree series.

Fatal Target hasn't been worked on as much lately as I would've liked. Chapter fifteen is being a stinker because it's one of those pesky little turning points and I've actually fallen off track a few times from the outline. Hopefully a new chapter will be completed by the end of the week. The target date for completion of Fatal Target is now late September/early October.

The Obsession Series hasn't been worked on much lately, and I'm hoping to buckle down and get a minmum of two chapters out for it this week. Fingers crossed!

Vids:
I have several vids in the works and hopefully I will make one this week. It all depends on time and whether or not my computer decides to work.

Graphics:
The first "official" graphics for Fatal Target are on the site (http://www.freewebs.com/fatal-targ…) and I'm hoping to complete some more this week once I get my laptop set up later today. I'm still unpacking from my trip to PA and beginning to pack for school. Needless to say, my room's a bit of a mess at the moment and my desks are practically non-exsistant.

I'm hoping to do some Red Eye graphics this week as well since I learned some PhotoShop tricks at Yearbook Camp.

School:
I go back to the evil known as school two weeks from today if I get my schedule in order. If not, I have a one day reprive. I still have to finish reading The Odyssey and completed the assigned work on it.

Recent Reading:
I just finished What the Dead Know by Laura Lippman and while it took me some time to get started, I was hooked by the time I was 1/4 of the way done. It was a really good mystery that makes you think and I didn't see the twist coming at the end. A word of caution--there is the usage of some language and mentions of situations that might upset younger readers (i.e. young teens).

Lately I've been reading Tess Gerritsen's medical thrillers and I will admit they are fast-paced and catchy. They are long as well, which is good for bookworms who often run out of reading material. So far I've read Harvest and Life Support.

I'm re-reading Countdown by Iris Johansen at the moment. Blind Alley and Countdown are two of my absolute favorites by her--I just love the character of Jane MacGuire! Even if you don't read any of her other Eve Duncan forensic thrillers before these two, make sure you read Blind Alley before Countdown. The two are linked and Blind Alley comes first.

I also bought Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer. I haven't read it yet--I have to finish The Odyessy first. But it looks great!

I'm off to get back to work... seeing as it never seems to end! Later!
