Of all the news reports coming out of Japan about the loss of life, the difficulty of getting resources to people, and the difficulty of recovery there is one thing notably absent: reports of violence.

It deeply saddens me that I can't imagine the aftermath of a natural disaster here that is even half as grave that wouldn't involve someone getting shot.
