Four and Twenty Black Birds - Cherie Priest:: Damn tasty writing.
The Exile Kiss - George Alec Effinger: I am disappointed that this is the last in this series as I have very much enjoyed the books although I am a bit surprised but this. While the world is vivid and complex, I find the characters a bit flat and the solutions to their problems simplistic.
The Kite Runner - Khalled Hosseini: This book deserves all of the recommendations it has. Reading it immediately upon finishing The Exile Kiss was a bit of an unintentionally odd juxtaposition.
