All she ever needed was you. But you broke her heart when you went away, leaving her with nothing. She managed to pull through, just for a short while. 3 weeks later, she killed herself. Why, you ask. She couldn't live without you. She gave you so much and you gave her nothing. She died because she had nothing to live for. You were her only bright spark in life and even that, she couldn't hold on to.
Blues want Ronaldo, and he seems to be using this as leverage to seek pay rise at Man Utd
MANCHESTER - MANCHESTER United are furious that winger Cristiano Ronaldo appears to be using Chelsea's interest in him to blackmail his club into increasing his wages.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has told his chief executive Peter Kenyon and owner Roman Abramovich he wants them to break the bank to sign and pay Ronaldo. And United, reported The Sun, know about the move.
Mourinho wants to use his countryman on the right flank with Arjen Robben or Damien Duff on the left. And he believes that the lure of vast wages will tempt the winger away if United refuse to re-negotiate the remainder of his five-year contract.
Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes is the man who brought Mourinho to Chelsea from Porto. And the 20-year-old winger believes the League leaders are willing to pay a British-record fee of 30 million (S$93 million) for him.
That would give United more than double the 12 million they paid Sporting Lisbon for him 18 months ago - and would dramatically boost his salary from the 15,000 a week he is receiving at Old Trafford to a hefty 70,000.
To put pressure on United, Ronaldo, who feels his current wages in no way reflect his development at Old Trafford or his value to the club - having scored seven goals this season - had even announced at the weekend that new contract talks were already underway.
He told the News of the World: 'The United board have already made an offer to renew but I'm trying not to think about it a lot.
'I only want to concentrate on my performances on the pitch.
'My agent Jorge Mendes has spoken with their people and it will be resolved shortly. I believe we will reach a good agreement for both sides.'
More menacingly, he refused to commit his long-term future to the club, adding: 'Nobody knows what will come tomorrow. I like being here, but who knows?
'There aren't many bigger and better clubs than this one. It's my ambition to be at a big club. I'm happy but nobody knows the future.
'At the moment, we are doing really well. Our work is to try to bring trophies home.
'Chelsea are a very consistent team and I think Mourinho is very good as he knows how to motivate his players. But I really hope United can peg back the gap on Chelsea.'
Ronaldo's comments caught United off-guard. But the club have been quick to tell their player, who is just 18 months into a five-year contract, to shut up about his wages and concentrate on football.
Said a club spokesman: 'Everything is as it was with Cristiano's contract. There have been no talks.'
