You and me both. I was just getting to the point of being really comfortable (and happy) with LJ. But I'll just cruise around for now and see what's what...
I probably won't cross post. Sometimes I wish I didn't have the junk I have at LJ, and this is an opportunity for a fresh start. I just have to figure out where I'm gonna go.
I know what you mean. But I'm still confused over the granting access verse subscribing thing. And I just don't have the time to fool around with making the journal as pretty as I'd like. So what's a gal to do? :-)
I know, I got confused, too. Evidently they wanted to make it so that you could "friend" someone back without them showing up on your reading list (like the fic authors with locked fic and a zillion people wanting to read it, but they don't want to read a zillion people). So subscribing is reading, and access is friending. You can grant someone access but if you don't subscribe to them, they won't show up on your reading list...it's like an automatic flist filter.
But if you don't grant access or subscribe....does that mean they can still read your public entries? I have a hard time knowing if I should be granting access to people I don't really know because I don't want to shut them out of something inadvertently...
Access is like a friend's lock. Anyone can read your public entries, but only those you grant access to can read your locked entries. It's basically the same as friending on LJ.
I'm thinking of making mine partly public, in case the need ever emerges to share stuff with people I know irl. Other than that, not quite sure what I'll end up doing with it.
I'll probably just use this as a lurker journal. I don't see the point of crossposting unless a significant part of my flist/circle/whatever ends up over here only.
No worries! I'm just glad you are here; I've granted you "access" so you can read my flocked posts whenever you drop by. And I'll still be harassing you on LJ! ♥
