BandLab bursts onto the scene as a game-changing cloud-based DAW, merging ease of use with powerful features typically found in more complex software. Its robust collaboration tools and lightweight performance eliminate latency issues, making music creation a breeze across devices. However, while its sound library is surprisingly good for a free platform, it still lacks depth compared to more established DAWs. The iOS app does show some quirks, potentially frustrating users on iPads. Overall, BandLab is an exciting glimpse into the future of collaborative music-making, perfect for both novices and seasoned musicians eager to experiment in a flexible environment.

Review: BandLab - Light Audio Recording - Affordable music production

lightaudiorecording.com

While BandLab shines as a free and intuitive online DAW, it comes with notable limitations that can frustrate more experienced users. Ideal for beginners, it offers a solid platform to get started without financial investment. However, the restrictions of 12 tracks and 6 minutes per project may hinder more complex recordings. The lack of auto-save and offline functionality is also a drawback. Ultimately, BandLab provides a decent entry point for aspiring musicians, but seasoned pros may find it lacking in depth and flexibility.

It's a lot more powerful than you think.

I used BandLab for 3 years, and I really have a lot to thank despite its limitations. I didn't get an actual computer until after I graduated, so I just used whatever tools I had available on mobile to make music. I love its sampler, by the way. Here's a fun fact: "Astral Travel" was made entirely on Bandlab alone.

K

Decent for beginners.

I produced 4 albums and 3 EPs with these DAW and countless other songs too. But it’s pre-packaged instruments aren’t great and is honestly just good for beginners.

jokinglyevil

Not great

There's just... not much with it. If you're only recording actual instruments to a metronome, this will do everything you need. But other than that, there's just not much. And it just feels kind of clunky. It also pushes the "social media" aspect of it quite a bit, which I don't care for.

hakanbaysal

Nice App

I use it for my phone recordings via Go mixer pro. Practical solutions that offer many options free of charge and provide support to project production by sharing with remote people make it enjoyable to use.

meme_lor

Useful and beginner friendly

Imagine Audacity but less complex and more designed towards easing someone into music production, that's the best way I can describe BandLab. I enjoy using it but my only problem with it is that it doesn't let you just save what you've made, you have to really go out of your way and go through a few hoops to do so. Besides that I would easily recommend this to anyone interested in mixing music.

austinnoise

VERYYY usefull

I use this to record all of my songs. My early ones relied heavily on drum machines and synths, 2 things that bandlab has a multitude of at the ready. I've used this for literally about 95% of my songs. The preloaded effects, midis, and the fact I can record live guitar over midis and more realistic sounding samples is simply amazing. This is the backbone of my music.

T

I like it

I’ve been using this for years now and I’m still learning more how to use it sooner or later I’m going to master it to the point it’s going to sound professional.

swr_ratgrl

3/5 "Biased since I first started making music with this."

"I started out with Bandlab and basically all you need to know is that it's exactly like Soundtrap but 100% better and 100% free. The only downside is that the community is filled with toxic children, so don't go into it expecting to be the next Whitney Houston otr [sic] Kanye West."

Preferred Settings + Usage:

"Their loop packs allow for a variety of interesting songs to be made."

mixedresults

Epic multi purpose application.

Bandlab is a community, social media platform, freelancer website, and daw all rolled into one. Very handy. I reccomend this especially to newer artists as you can get feedback very quickly with this platform.
