Hey guys? I'm a Viet from the paddies of Southeast Asia. The only dough based thing I've handled in house is the crisp banh mi (Vietnamese baguette) at the grocery store. How hard is homemade lasagna?
After reading several recipes and having been informed/reminded it uses the oven, therefore heating the house up, I’ve made the wise decision of buying frozen lasagna. I can’t tell the difference anyway.
I know I read and reblogged the post from earlier in the morning but white ppl reacting to constructive feedback about their racism with “I’m so upset I’m getting heart attack symptoms” is mind-boggling. But it did happen to me, I realized. I genuinely didn’t pick up that the coworker in question was so upset and crying because she was upset about what I said to her specifically though, and just ignored her.
She was saying something insensitive about another coworker needing adjusted work days because he was Muslim and observed Ramadan and I said well we close for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Those were Christian holidays. Girl went quiet then went to the bathroom to cry for like 10 minutes in the middle of a rush.
She even complained to the manager I think, but she talked to the one who only brought it up with me as a general question by the punch-in machine like “Did you tell [name] that she was bullying [Muslim worker’s name]?”
And I was like huh?? So he shrugged and just didn’t do anything. It was more of a symptom of him not wanting to do anything in general since that guy also didn’t call police for us when the front cashier got threatened with physical harm, but yeah.
So I had a small rant on bsky but thought it was important so I’m crossposting.
Since my book came out I get a LOT of scam emails. They’re using AI to target me specifically, they usually regurgitate the plot of my book and the opinions of goodreads reviews in order to make it seem like they’re some kind of industry professional who loves my book.
This is not unique to me, I imagine this is shared by most authors.
The usual scam is either that they want me on their podcast, for a nominal fee, or they want me to jump agencies or publisher, or sometimes I’m not entirely sure what they want cos it’s garbled AI nonsense, but they want me to respond so they can hook me further.
The insidious thing is they are using the names of real agents, real podcasters and real companies, so if you were to do a quick google you’d think ‘oh this is legit’.
The email address is usually “RealPerson.RealCompany.com@gmail.com” to try to mask that it’s not real.
(Please also do your research for legit offers too… signing yourself to an agency or publisher is a big deal, don’t sign your stuff away lightly! But that’s not the main point of this post…)
