Chinese drama & online novels!
Mar. 16th, 2016 12:33 pmAnyway, recently i found myself watching some chinese(&/taiwanese) dramas again!.
I was looking at my PTW list in mydramalist and saw this particular drama called Boss & Me.
Apparently i saw good reviews sometimes back then and put it there without checking any trailer whatsoever.
But then I also remembered that a few months ago when I was doing internship in Balikpapan, I saw a CM for that drama in the local TV and I was quite interested, so I started watching. and.... IT WAS SO CUTE I CAN'T GET ENOUGH.
here's a proof:
(ps: from here onwards, there might be some minor spoiler)

.... and that's just one scene of many more. XD
It's full of fluff any not so much angst (there are, but everything is resolved pretty nicely),.
I thought the leads playing Shanshan (Zhao Li Ying) and Feng Teng (Zhang Han) have great chemistry.
and then, because I can't get enough of this couple, I decided to read some more about them.
This drama, Boss & Me / 杉杉來了 (lit: Shan Shan is Coming), was actually an adaptation of an online novel 杉杉来吃 (lit: Shan Shan Comes to Eat) written by Gu Man (顾漫). When I tweeted (aka fangirling) on twitter, my friend told me about how she liked the novel more, so I went and find out that there actually is a fan-translated version on the net! Yay! So I immedately went to read and OMG I SURE DID LOVE IT XD
The novel was very cute, and to compare with the drama it is way more simple. The drama added several new characters and added angst that was originally not there in the novel. Zhao Li Ying did a very good job portraying Shan Shan as in the novel, while for Zhang Han as Feng Teng, the portrayal is a bit off from the novel. I find the drama version of Feng Teng is too oshare while i picture the novel Feng Teng to be more classy. But overall it was good good good! The novel has a few more chapters that weren't included in the drama such as a few "Interesting Tidbits After Marriage" which was sooooo cute. While the drama didn't show SS & FT getting married :(
Other than that, there is also a special chapter where SS & FT plays an online wuxia game called "Dreams of Jianghu" with some characters I hadn't heard of. It's apparently a joint epilogue for 杉杉来吃 and another online novel also written by Gu Man called 微微一笑很倾城 (lit:Just One Smile Is Very Alluring). The chapter was really cute too with Feng Teng being all jealous because Shanshan keep playing games so he decided to play too lol. I was interested with the other characters called Wei Wei and Xiao Nai so I decided to read their novel too!!!! Thank God it's also fan-tranlated (see Gu Man's popularity?) and I'm currently halfway reading it. Its main plot is about online gaming so I'm already hooked since the start because I can relate XD Also, apparently 微微一笑很倾城 is being adapted to a drama series too, and will be airing in the first half of 2016. The leads are Yang Yang and Zheng Shuang, portraying Xiao Nai and Bei Wei Wei respectively. I heard chinese dramas airing date gets pushed back a lot so i dunno. But I think I'm going to watch it!

Now back to Shan Shan and Feng Teng!

The lead actors that played SS & FT have a new collaboration movie coming up, it's called 女汉子真爱公式 or the official english title: "The Rise of A Tomboy". The movie is premiering in March 18th, 2016. The trailer looks funny ! Oh and it also have Jung Ilwoo XD But of course my ship is still ZLY x ZH :p
and it has a really good song in the trailers. I identified two songs, one is called Heartbeat by Silence Wang, but I haven't figured out the other one. here's a short MV for the song with scenes from the movie preview/trailer. I really like the song that I've ripped it and replayed it these past few days lol.
Anyway, that's it for now! Though I might want to post the full song and lyrics later XD
edit:
I also started watching Refresh Man, with Aaron Yan and Joanne Tseng as leads. I can't say anything much though because it's only just one episode (oh, the torture of Taiwan and Japanese drama, one episode per week ;;;). But I can say Aaron is shuai as usual lol. They look like they'd have good chemistry too. and I like the backstory of their characters' highschool period.
