My name is El, I'm 27 and a bride-to-be. I'm also a web developer and in the process of setting up a wedding community website called "Wedding Wishes" at http://www.weddingwishes.co

I'm looking to get the ball rolling and encourage some communication on the forums before I actually launch the site, and as such, I'd love to invite the community to join for free and even receive a couple of freebies I picked up while doing some marketing for work. There's a fantastic ebook worth $40 that you can download for free that claims to save you thousands. Not sure how accurate that is in practice, but I've read it and it is actually really good... and really very free!

Distance; we live apart right now because we go to different colleges, and will continue to do so until May. We have been long distance for 4 out of our 5 years together, but we see each other most weekends, so that helps. I can't wait to live with him full time!

How did you meet? He worked with my best friend when they were in high school.  I didn't meet my best friend until we were 19, but they found each other on MySpace and she invited him over to our apartment.  He says he fell in love immediately, but I was engaged to be married to someone else.  My BFF "forgot" to tell him that.  LOL
When did you get engaged? Labor Day weekend.
How? We took a weekend trip to L.A. and spent one of the evenings in my favorite place on the planet, the Santa Monica Pier.  He was trying to get up the courage all night; considered dinner (my aunt was there and my mother would have been very upset if she was not the witness and my aunt was!), at the end of the pier (too many people), on the beach (too dark).  Finally, we were on our way back home when he pulled me up to the top of a building, overlooking the whole pier, beach, Promenade...  It was beautiful at 10:30pm.  He proposed it the quiet night air, nervous as all hell, with the most gorgeous ring I've ever seen.  When we got back in the car, he told me that I had to call my two best friends and let them know that I said yes.  Apparently they already knew all of this was happening!

What is your biggest challenge as a couple? Time.  We live apart (for now), my mother is not as independent as she would like to be due to an accident 14 months ago, and his job has a tendency to keep him at work late and come home too tired to drive out to my place.  We make it work though.  He is amazing and helps me with everything at my mother's house, so we spend a lot of weekends "together" but working our butt's off.

Ok, ok - I reread the introductory post I put out there.  It does come off as a bit obnoxious.  That wasn't my intent at all, but sometimes the message gets lost when you are too close to the subject.  I apologize to those who politely pointed out that it was a bit too... annoying.  To those who weren't polite, well, fnd something better to do than be rude to total strangers that have nothing to do with you.

So, we are still taking topic ideas, requests for advice, comments, and personal stories from other couples.  On Monday, we will post in regard to what comes in over the weekend.  If we don't get much response, we'll just pick some stuff to talk about and go from there.  We both hope that those of you who like this site, please let us know how to make it more appealing to you - and those who don't like this site, please go somewhere else and do it politely.  Thanks for reading!

I am the Boy, and sitting next to me is my sweet girl, the Girl.

We have started a journal that will revolve around the silly notion that has been presented to us by so many people - that we are the perfect couple. Now, obviously, there is no perfect couple, and we don't claim to be one. All our friends and relatives, though, seem to look at us and see something they want.

We don't entirely understand it, but we do recognize that our relationship is something extremely rare, and tremendously special. So, in the spirit of open communication and community, we have decided to put our life into the spotlight so that others can see how we really are together.

Our journal is a sounding board for people who want advice, a diary for our admittedly odd and quirky lives as a couple, a soapbox for our beliefs on what it takes to be happy with another person, and lastly a forum to discuss all aspects of living a life in this insane world with someone by your side.

How long have you been together? It's odd.  We were together for about 7 months, then my parents broke us up, and about 2 and a half years later I realized that this is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with, so why should I let my parents control that, and now we've been together for an additional 6 months. *whew*

How did you meet? I was a volunteer at the humane society, and he worked there.

When did you get engaged? April 19th, 2008

How? We were actually in the middle of a mini-argument over some bs thing I can't remember, and he said, "I'm sorry", then came over to me in the other room, and kissed me, and the ring fell in my mouth.  (no, I didn't swallow it!)

When are you getting married? I dunno.... we're thinking about waiting until I graduate from college, so about 3 years.
