I really, really dislike the system of blog inboxes, whether here or at LJ.
and I really don't understand , why comments, that I already requested to be send to my normal mail address, are going to the inbox, too.
Or in fact, all those updates of my DW or LJ flisters.
The only time I really go the inbox is, when someone is using the messaging system to send me a message (although, I really prefer anyone, really anyone to use my gmail address - which I left everyhwere open for anyone to see in the userinfos - , but I understand, that maybe some are fearing, that the email goes into the spamfilter, if they write me for the first time).
Whenever someone did use the LJ message system to send me something, I had to wade through million of updates and replies and whatsover to find their message, until I figured out, how to stop everything to be send to the LJ inbox except the LJ messages!
So, wise friends, tell me coz I am currently having a "Brett vorm Kopf" (sorry, I don't know how to express that in English, and don't have time to look up):
How do I do that on DW??

Being able to only get stuff via e-mail and not also into the inbox is on the list of things to implement for Dreamwidth. Livejournal recently did it, but since the two sites already differ quite a lot (and the system on Livejournal still has bugs) it will take a while until DW can have this, too. There is also some kind of 'hack' for it, but I can't find a link to an explanation right now.
However, you don't have to wade through the whole inbox to find messages, you can just go to http://www.dreamwidth.org/inbox/?view=usermsg_recvd for received messages.
Hope this helped a bit.
(Disclaimer: I am not an official spokesperson, I just do a bit of stuff around the site)
ohh vielen Dank!
dropping by to help is always superb!
thanks for the explanations, and now its clear, why I could not find it in the settings!!!
I was fiddling around, but for the hell could not find it, and thought, maybe its too obvious to everyone except me, and I might be too dumb to *see* it!
good thing, I am not too self-conscious to ask wildly around, even if it makes me looking clueless *G*
no need for the hack, its really *not* that annoying, just... *points above*
I was kinda desperate coz could not find it anywhere :D
