Summary: Draco reflects on his upbringing.
Growing up with an aloof father and a doting mother, Draco knew that a present parent was vital to a child’s well-being. His mother’s love had grounded him and acted as an anchor, and he couldn’t bear to think how he would have fared had both of his parents been cold and distant.
Draco paused to reflect on Potter’s rumored upbringing. He’d heard of how cruel Potter’s relatives had been, yet Potter had turned out to be a decent sort.
The kettle whistled, rousing Draco from his musings. He could ponder family connections later. Now, there was tea to serve.
