  • With a noun phrase (including a relative clause): use the prepositions a or de interchangeably. que is not allowed.

  • With a number: use de only.
  • When the first term is a whole clause and the second term is a noun: use the conjunction que only.
    • Es diferente beber cerveza que vino
  • With an infinitive clause: both que and a are valid.
    • diferente construir puentes que hablar (normal)
    • diferente a hacerlo en Murcia (also correct)
  • With a clause containing a conjugated (personal) verb:
    • Using que is possible but creates two consecutive ques: diferente que bailés conmigo que que bailés con tu novio.
    • The preferred form to avoid this repetition is a (giving diferente que bailés conmigo a que bailés con tu novio).
  • With a prepositional phrase or an adverb phrase: use que only.
