From Persian پیرْزاده: پیر (elder; Sufi master; saint) +‎ زاده (born of; descendant of). The name originally denoted a descendant of a Sufi saint or religious elder. Common as a surname among Muslim communities in South Asia, Iran, and Central Asia.
