Problem with the Polish settlement pages

edit

All the pages about Polish villages were made by the same bot: @Kotbot. Problem is, the bot was extremely flawed with one thing: didn't seperate colonies(kolonie) and internal parts of towns/villages with full villages. So now e.g Ławki is listed as a settlement while it's a part of Tomaszów Lubelski. Brickguy276 (talk) 17:06, 21 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

So, what do you propose, @Brickguy276? This potentially is a big problem. By my count, there are some 52,000+ articles about Polish towns and cities, if you include all these "colonies" etc. While I can do a manual search on TERYT to verify that a particular locality (for want of a better term) exists or not, to try to do this in an automated fashion would be a big stretch of my scripting skills. Problem is, I don't really know, best case scenario is just botting it which seems kinda pointless considering the irrelevance of these articles. Brickguy276 (talk) 07:51, 22 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
This is a known issue, we have a discussion ongoing linked below about it. FOARP (talk) 17:09, 20 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I didn't receive any notification of that ping (below). How about you, @Brickguy276? Kiwipete (talk) 19:18, 20 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Well, I did. Brickguy276 (talk) 19:19, 20 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I've created an article on Dębówek, a settlement part of the town of Gozdnica. Can someone help me with categorising this article? It's in Gmina Gozdnica which is an urban gmina. Also the infobox currently calls it a village as I'm not sure what to call it/what it's considered to be in English if that makes sense. Fortek67 (talk) 18:29, 13 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Sorry I just realised I forgot to add pings @Kiwipete and @Brickguy276 Fortek67 (talk) 00:16, 23 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

New editor in need of help

edit

Hello there, Kamil993eu is a new editor whom I was helping with WP:CITE (and encouraging WP:CIVIL):

Since I don't have a good understanding of the subject matter, I think they could use the help of Polish wikipedians at this point. It's hard for me to tell if their sources are WP:RS or not. --Gurkubondinn (talk) 13:27, 12 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Also note that I don't have a horse in this race, and I'm not giving any sort of material judgement of these edits. --Gurkubondinn (talk) 13:33, 12 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Page names in English

edit

As this is the English Wikipedia, shouldn't pages like Koleje Dolnośląskie be named Lower Silesian Railways, the English translation? If yes can then I move all current voivodeship-owned railway companies to their English name? In pages I have created/edited I have already been referring to Koleje Dolnośląskie as Lower Silesian Railways. Fortek67 (talk) 00:14, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

This section on orthography seems to suggest to not translate Polish names into English. Kiwipete (talk) 03:12, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Polish Figure Skating Championships

edit

Hello... I have been working over the past several months to complete the results tables at Polish Figure Skating Championships with the gold/silver/bronze medalists and host cities for all championships since their beginning. I have pored through numerous newspaper archives hosted at various sites and am left with just two years remaining incomplete: 1991 and 1992. If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it. Are archive copies of Przegląd Sportowy from 1990–92 available online anywhere? The 1992 championships were held circa December 20–23, 1991; so I'm guessing the 1991 championships would have been held during the same timeframe in 1990. Thank you to anyone who might be able to help! Bgsu98 (Talk) 20:21, 29 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
