It was twenty years ago today, give or take, that some of us formed a WikiProject to bring together all work related to the Beatles. That yielded one gush of interest in the late 2000s and rather flat waters ever since. But we think the efforts of just a few strong-willed people can again drive a raging storm and build some of the site's proudest masterpieces, as has been so in the past. Or... the rain can hide its head...
By focusing articles, tasks, resources, and discussions into a project, we hope the efforts of Beatles-headed editors funnel into a collective way of bettering the band's coverage. In exact words, we on this project improve and clean up articles about both the band the Beatles as well as the individuals who made the Beatles. Therefore, we also inhabit articles about their songs, albums, recordings, concerts, publications, history, business, and bands; people close to them; people who study them; events covering them; and media and arts clearly involving them—so, anyone or anything partly or fully noteworthy for touching the Beatles world. And we address concerns and requests these articles may undergo, such as sourcing issues, merge proposals, comments, deletions, and drafts. Best of all, we discuss anything related to the above. Should anyone want to help or join the project, just a string of edits on articles about the Beatles qualifies them as a full and respected member. We welcome questions of any kind: anyone interested can post them on the project's talk page or any relevant talk page. The father of this project is WikiProject Music.
We have some words of advice on editing... do read them! Those of us unbothered by rules at least ought to remember that Wikipedia is not one's own blog or thesis... all claims and bits of information must be backed by a good source and cited properly... ALL of them. This rings especially loud when we aren't sure who played what instrument in a given song, or what caused which Beatle to leave the group, so on, so on. Now say hello to Ringo.

What goes on
editHere collected are noteworthy actions involving Beatles articles: good article reassessments, featured article candidatures, peer reviews, drafts, deletions, did you know proposals, so on. One does right by following them and participating.
Many of the Beatles-related good and featured articles were written and distinguished over fifteen years ago, when Wikipedia's best works stood as shacks next to today's palaces. So many Beatles GAs are being delisted these days: in the past few months alone, the Quarrymen, Julia Baird, George Martin, and "A Day in the Life" were stripped of their green badge. "The Long and Winding Road", a FA from 2006, was recently nominated for a review and it was saved.

Tasks
editWe have much to sort out in our partly blooming, partly weedy garden. Should one want to help the project, they can start by completing or addressing these here tasks:

A list of articles needing cleanup associated with this project is available. See also the tool's wiki page and the index of WikiProjects.
- Apple Records discography – Needs British LPs and singles, and US LPs. Needs restructuring. I'd propose using the Brit catalog as the basis, and having only those releases which are different in the US section. This might not be practical, however, if the cat. no.s are different (they are for the singles, not sure for the albums).
Blue links need to be checked for and, if they aren't already, added to Category:Apple Records singles or Category:Apple Records albums, and the same for The Beatles/solo members singles/albums categories. - Add specific fair use rationales to Beatles-related copyrighted images, especially singles covers (see Image:In My Life - The Beatles.jpg, for example).
- Improve all released Beatles songs and covers to C-class, at least.
- Take a photo of Kenwood.
Creating articles
editWhoever wishes to start a new article should consider these steps:
- After the article for creation process, if one was required, add the article to a relevant subcategory of Category:The Beatles. If the article was the child of a redlink or a request on the the to-do list, remove the link from this list.
- Add a fitting infobox if possible.
- Open the talk page and add a {{WPBeatles}} template, and any other ones you see fit related to other projects. It's best not to grade the article yourself; let another editor do this.
- If the article needs a photo, place a {{Photo requested}} template on the talk page and mention the request on the to-do list.
- Any new articles that have an interesting or unusual fact in them may be suggested for the Did you know? box on the Wikipedia homepage. There's a 120-hour time limit from the article's creation.
Motivation
editThese above images all represent articles that, after many hours of undying research and sweat, became good articles or featured articles. And they reached this distinction through the work of editors like you and me.
Templates
editThere are a lot of templates relevant to Beatles articles or the project itself. If one knows of any more, they may add them.

editThese are directories placed at the bottom of articles, when applicable.
- Use
