Welcome to Wikipedia, Yavuz Ben! I'm LEvalyn, and I've been assigned as your mentor. All new Wikipedia accounts receive a mentor chosen randomly from a list of volunteers. It just means I'm here to help with anything you need! We need to have all kinds of people working together to create an online encyclopedia, so I'm glad you're here. Over time, you will figure out what you enjoy doing the most on Wikipedia.

You might have noticed that you have access to a tutorial and suggested edits. It's recommended that you take advantage of this, as it'll make learning how to edit Wikipedia easier.

If you need assistance with anything or have any questions, click on the "Get editing help" button on the bottom right corner of your screen. This will open up a module with links to help pages and a place to ask me questions. You can also ask me questions directly on my talk page, or go here to get help from the wider community.

Again, welcome to Wikipedia! ~ le 🌸 valyn (talk) 21:24, 28 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Wow it's been a while I'm about to devour a cookie. Thanks LEvalyn. Yavuz Ben (talk) 22:30, 28 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

CS1 error on 400-series highways

edit

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page 400-series highways, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A generic name error. References show this error when author or editor name parameters use placeholder names, or the name of the newspaper or organisation, instead of the source's actual author or editor name. If no human author is given, the fields should be removed. (Fix | Ask for help). Below are the references causing this error:
    • SPACES, Share on; Email, Share by; Facebook, Share on; X, Share on; LinkedIn, Share on; Message, Share via Text (June 10, 2025). "'Couldn't be happier': Access to Highway 400 via Canal Road ends today". OrilliaMatters.com. {{cite web}}: |last2= has generic name (help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 00:42, 20 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Re: Editing efficiently

edit

Editors normally communicate on Wikipedia talk pages rather than via email because the community values transparency.

I'm not the best person to ask about how to edit efficiently. That depends on your interests and resources, so requires an extended discussion. It would be a better question for your mentor.

You've been adding internal links and filling in bare URLs. Both of those are valuable tasks. The most common mistake people make when adding links is adding too many. Not everything that can be linked should be linked.

You've installed a number of scripts that can help you work more efficiently. You might be interested in Wikipedia:User scripts/Most imported scripts. I used to use Reflinks and ReFill a lot, but nowadays find Wikipedia:RefToolbar/2.0 best. External tools, such as Find link and Link-dispenser, can help with niche tasks adjacent to ones you're already doing.

A good place to discover tasks that need doing is Wikipedia:Community portal. Getting proficient at advanced search and navigating categories will also help you find work. If your interests align with one or more WikiProjects, you can find more cleanup lists there. I participate in Wikipedia:WikiProject Bangladesh, for example, which has a list of articles needing cleanup (updated Tuesdays) here. Enjoy! --Worldbruce (talk) 16:32, 20 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for replying Worldbruce!! Much thanks for familliarizing me with new usefull tools. I had question regarding Findlink, that is, is it primarily used for de-orphaning articles or for something else? Regarding Link dispenser I'm sorry to say but if I'm being honest I find this tool not for me a beginner atleast but I'm thankful for your recommendations, can you please also cite some best Edward's tools? I like him personally, I wanted to discover his top tools here. Yavuz Ben (talk) 20:33, 20 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I use the Find link tool as one of the initial steps in de-orphaning. It seems to be broken at the moment, which is always a problem with volunteer-maintained tools. I'm not familiar with any other tools by Edward Betts. --Worldbruce (talk) 01:37, 22 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
