Family trees

I've noticed your interest in articles on medieval nobility. Based on that interest, are you able to make family trees on certain articles or do you know someone who could? Per your most recent edit on the page, Template:Infobox royalty says: ". This template is only for historic biographies and must not be used for mythical / legendary characters or creatures." The subject of this article is neither of these, as there is no actual doubt to the existence of the subject of the article in its sources, and is indeed a historic article, even if not technically a biography. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 18:16, 26 June 2026 (UTC)

The issue is not its existence. The issue is that it is not a biography. Template:Infobox royalty is for biographies. It is not for dolls. Surtsicna (talk) 18:36, 26 June 2026 (UTC)

I think that an infobox with the fields "cause of death", "father", etc in an article about a wooden doll looks misleading and unserious. And that's a shame because this is a very interesting article. My advice on what to use? Don't use an infobox. Not every article needs an infobox, and no infobox is often the best choice. I agree with Thilio. I've always seen Surtsicna on the WP:RM/TR moves (and I've just done them). It's great that I have this right, alongside template editor, both having less then 500 users. Standardization of medieval names

No specific request but I see you are doing article name changes. I have no specific complaint, but please be a bit careful on pre 12th century people. The idea of titles was still pretty unsettled, so in that period words like Count are almost fixed bynames. It sometimes seems to have been used to distinguish someone as being part of a comital family, or in other words as being of a particular status. Because many people are only known to us by one name, plus such a byname, if we remove these words we risk creating names that are not only anachronistic, but also not known to modern scholars, potentially making the names of different people difficult to distinguish. This could in turn force us to create our own numbering systems. You have created an Otto of Loon for example, about a person who might not have existed, and that's made me a bit worried about Otto I, Count of Duras, which is a difficult article to find the right name for. It is likely that no county of Duras existed until the time of his son, but older secondary sources conventionally assume he should be referred to this way based on a 14th century reference. In his own time he was just called Count Otto or even Count Otto of Loon (even though his brother held the comital office connected to Loon). Andrew Lancaster (talk) 11:34, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
