Buddy Fields

Hello,

I saw you restore the previous version of the Buddy Fields (baseball) page.

While Baseball-Reference hasn't updated their Negro league data since 2023, Seamheads.com consistently updates. At some point in the last few months the Buddy Fields Seamheads profile was deleted (notice how it just redirects to their main page) Most of those stats (which can still been seen at the now-outdated MLB.com page) now lie in the Seamheads page of James Field MLB.com must have updated more recently than BR, because their Buddy Fields page has no stats, as they have been moved to James Field.

This usually happens when Seamheads researchers (mainly Gary Ashwill) find information to more accurately identify a player. Baseball-Reference should be updating their Negro league data with the latest from Seamheads at some point, but they don't seem to have any sort of timetable for that. Hi. It is confusing, at least to me, and you seem to know more about the subject than I do, but there were so many differences, starting with the spelling of Field vs Fields, different places of birth, 1890 birth date for James but none for Buddy, different rookie years, with two different listings with different career stats at baseball-reference.com, that it looks like they must be two different players. But if you're confident they're the same, I'll just put a note on the talk page. Station1 (talk) 03:27, 27 April 2026 (UTC)

May 2026 Administrator Election – Call for Candidates

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/May 2026/Candidates.

Here is the schedule:

• April 29 – May 5: Call for candidates
• May 8–12: Discussion phase
• May 13–19: SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

• The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
• Prospective candidates are advised to become familiar with the community's expectations of administrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for admin elections candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
• The process will have a seven day call for candidates phase, a two day pause, a five day discussion phase, and a seven day private vote using SecurePoll. Discussion and questions are only allowed on the candidate pages during the discussion phase.
• The outcome of this process is identical to making a request for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA versus administrator elections.
• Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. Later, a user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

The voting phase of the May 2026 administrator elections has started and will continue until 19 May 2026 at 23:59 UTC. You can participate in the voting phase at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/May 2026/Voting phase.

As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

• May 13–19: SecurePoll voting phase (we are here)
• Scrutineering phase

In the voting phase, the candidate subpages close to public questions and discussion, and everyone who qualifies to vote has a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's vote total during the election. The suffrage requirements are similar to those at RFA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for a few days, perhaps longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (this is a good page to watchlist), and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a non-recall candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and a minimum of 20 support votes. Recall candidates must achieve 55.0% support. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Moved page Bizcocho (Uruguay)

Station1. It is true that each language on Wikipedia defines its articles, but if there is an interwiki link on Wikidata.

• There is a Spanish article called es:Bizcocho with an interwiki link on Wikidata (Q1049852) to more than forty languages, including Sponge cake in English. Bizcocho in Spanish and Sponge cake in English encompass similar sponge cake varieties such as Castella, Pão de Ló, Genoise, Angel food cake, etc. These are what are generally known as Bizcocho in Spanish and Sponge cake in English.

• There is a Spanish article called es:Bizcocho (Uruguay) with an interwiki link on Wikidata (Q4919380) to four languages, including Bizcocho in English. Bizcocho (Uruguay) in Spanish and Bizcocho in English (which should be called Bizcocho (Uruguay) in English) include similar varieties of pastry, cake or cookie, etc. The basis of both articles in both English and Spanish originated in Uruguay, where most buttery flaky pastries, including croissants, are termed "bizcocho", while sponge cake is called "bizcochuelo".

• • The situation is clear if you read them; that's what reading is all about. I tried to clear up the confusion created on the pages regarding what started in 2006 and 2007, with the meaning of "Bizcocho" in Uruguay, which was the origin of both the English and Spanish versions of the page. But it was impossible.
