Public transit maps
editHi, thank you so much for creating these railway maps, such as this one, or this one, they look incredible! I would love to create some myself for some articles I've created, so if you don't mind how exactly do you create these? I can see you use OpenStreetMap. - Hi Fortek67; thank you for your comment on the maps. The key software is called Inkscape which is a free vector editor. Although, I save the images as PNG rather than SVG because of the raster basemaps taken from OSM. They are simply set to the right scale in the Transport Map layer, screenshotted, cropped and placed together. Then, you draw the lines over the top and add text and symbols as required, using a consistent set style across the map series. Then export and upload. It will be fairly simple to learn with a bit of trial and error; if you don't have any graphics experience I don't mind creating some for your articles if you point to which ones. - Thanks! After a few tries of creating smooth curves, I've uploaded the first version of a map: File:Poland railway line 278.png. Obviously this isn't the final version, it's not perfect. So let me know what changes I should make (what font I should use, sizing, etc) to make this consistent with your maps. I'm happy to reupload a new version of the file.
