Regarding Linguistic Atlas of Chinese Dialects

edit

Thank you for your reply in Talk:She_Chinese#Requested_move_8_July_2026.

May I ask you a few questions regarding what you mentioned about Linguistic Atlas of Chinese Dialects.

1: Are you referring to the book with ISBN "978-962-359-085-3".

2: I have the Chinese version of this book. Does it also have a version in English?

3: Regarding "the English-language introduction to the Linguistic Atlas of Chinese Dialects calls it "She dialect"", on what page of the book did you find this information?

4: Regarding "the Atlas treats it as a coordinate branch of Chinese", on what page of the book did you find this information?

We will have our formal discussion on my move request

Before that, can you help me to find the information I am looking for?

@Sinowriter: That ISBN is the Language Atlas of China, a different work. I was referring to volume 1, Phonetics, of the LACD, ISBN 987-7-100-05774-5. It has a preface in Chinese on pages 1–6, and then in English on pages 7–13 and in Japanese on pages 14–20. The reference to the She dialect is on page 9, in a paragraph numbered (3). On that page there is also a table of sites by province and dialect type, in which She is included in "Other", not "Hakka". Kanguole 16:55, 14 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
