Pope Saint link

Hello,

I've revert your edit. What this have to do with anything? Pope Saint is redirect to the List of canonised popes. There's a reason why we have to separate Pope (the actual page) to the list of popes that most popes does. Do we have to remove the List of popes to the current pope. It's been like this even Pope Francis was alive. This is pretty much with honorific titles of the popes. Pope and Saint is displayed text when viewing the page, it was fine as it is. @SpartanMazda: Did you read the guidelines I referenced? I am referring to MOS:SEAOFBLUE and MOS:SPECIFICLINK. We can alternatively keep the link to List of popes if you want, but having two links next to each other is not an improvement. It's hard for me to understand because both MOS:SEAOFBLUE and MOS:SPECIFICLINK, I will agree with you on the Pope Saint because it does redirect to the list of canonised popes page. However it gets very confusing with just regular popes just have alterative to link list of popes and then at the title says "Bishop of Rome", one is link to the list of popes, one is linking to pope. The confusion lead to lack of description for the "honorific_prefix" in TemplateData. Like the type description for type shows exactly that. SpartanMazda (talk) 21:27, 12 July 2026 (UTC)

@SpartanMazda: If I understand correctly, you are ok with keeping just "Pope Saint" in the biographies that were edited? I know you changed these articles in good faith, but again, having two links next to each other is not helpful to our readers. Imagine that most will just hover their mouse over one of the two linked words, and just press one of the two links, not both. "Pope Saint" is precise, and if our readers want to navigate further into the topic, the aforementioned page has numerous related links; including List of popes. – Demetrios1993 (talk) 13:00, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Yes of course I do in good faith. My argument of me agreeing with the Pope Saint (which linked the List of canonized popes) is that via a consensus of styling either we have one or two links in the honorific_prefix parameter (which I don't think we do have one. Correct me if I'm wrong tho) and of course per MOS:SOB. Like I said, we keep the current styling if you can call it that for now until we have a consensus I don't mind it as long as the editors/readers agree via a consensus of dropping two links to one link which myself have to agreeing with dropping two links per MOS:SOB and MOS:SPECIFICLINK.

By reaching a consensus, the lack of description for honorific_prefix in TemplateData is needed (currently read as: Honorific Prefix - honorific_prefix - Honorific prefix). If a consensus is going to go with one link, then the description of templatedata should be link Pope Saint (one link) for canonized popes. SpartanMazda (talk) 01:35, 20 July 2026 (UTC)

@SpartanMazda: We should have one precise link per the aforementioned community guidelines. However, your edits on 11 July introduced two links next to each other in dozens of biographies. I am referring to the following edit:

• "[[Pope Saint]]" was changed to "[[List of popes|Pope]] [[List of canonised popes|Saint]]"

Since we both seem to agree that this was not an improvement per MOS:SOB and MOS:SPECIFICLINK, one of us should change it back to how it was before. Do you want to do it, or would you like me to do it? – Demetrios1993 (talk) 18:01, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
