scale colors?
editOut of curiosity, does someone know where did the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane scale color scheme start out? for example, http://weather.unisys.com/hurricane/atlantic/
the current article (as of sept. 28) uses an alternative scale coloring scheme (white, yellow, orange, red)
Update C3 landfall
editLESLIE landfalled at Cat 3 intensity, please update. 50.39.162.24 (talk) 14:21, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- Erm... no, it didn't? Not sure where you're getting your information. Dylan620 (he/him • talk • edits) 19:28, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
Erick?
editErick made landfall at category 3 intensity a few days ago, so put it in the cat 3 Pillar8908 (talk) 11:37, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
- Per the rule, Erick would not be added as it peaked at category 4 intensity and landfalled at category 3 intensity. The peak and landfall categorizations have to be the same for it to be eligible for a thumbnail in this page. CasualCycloneTracker180897 (talk) 19:49, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
Article review
editIt has been a while since this article has been reviewed, so I took a look and noticed lots of uncited statements, including entire paragraphs. Should this article go to WP:GAR? Z1720 (talk) 02:37, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Z1720 I looked at the article and noticed the same problems as well. This article should have its status reviewed. ZergTwo (talk) 04:10, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- @ZergTwo: Thanks for your comment. Would you be willing to bring this to WP:GAR? Since I have many articles nominated there, having new editors helps spread out the work and give new voices to the process. Z1720 (talk) 11:56, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Z1720 I'm having a busy week right now so I don't have time to bring this to WP:GAR and fix the issues. ZergTwo (talk) 02:22, 1 November 2025 (UTC)

Landfall category 3
editHurricane Melissa made landfall into Cuba as a category 3 hurricane on October 29 2025, that is the most recent category 3 landfall so should that be the main picture in the category 3 section instead of Rafael which was last year? SantiagoEdits (talk) 02:52, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- I forgot to add on, but does that not count because Melissa also made landfall as a Category 5. SantiagoEdits (talk) 02:52, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah the consensus over the years has been that the system should both peak and make landfall at a certain category in either the Eastern Pacific or the Atlantic before we update the picture. This means that an image of Melissa should only appear in the Category 5 section if its really needed.Jason Rees (talk) 20:05, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
