  • The article was new enough and long enough at the time of the nomination, I did not find any close paraphrasing, and a QPQ has been provided. The current hook is not DYKHFC-compliant as the "floating in streams" sentences lacks a footnote. More importantly, however, the hook as currently written may not meet DYKINT, as seeds floating in streams may be a "well-duh" statement. I would suggest focusing just on the ballooned aspect, and perhaps give more emphasis on the inflation aspect to connect it to pollination. modern inflated fruits
@Narutolovehinata5: The seeds don't balloon (and have not been found in the fossils), the fruit capsules which encompass the seeds are what inflate between pollination to maturity and then get carried on the wind. See the modern fruits in the picture.--Kevmin § 15:38, 22 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

The descriptivce paper uses both terms, and uses fruit in the title not capsule. The genus produces dry-papery mature fruits that are also called capsule, Fruit is acceptable and more audience approachable.--Kevmin § 03:00, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Barbalalaika:, its the provided Wang et al 2013 in the discussion of Koelreuteria ecology "the perfectly globose seeds of Koelreuteria are blown from the high trees and still contained in their light, membranous, bladder-like capsules, so they are dispersed by wind or sometimes by water." within the "Ecological implications for the fruits and seeds of Koelreuteria" section. As Wang et al clearly establish that the fruits they have just described are within the genus, and show the same inflated capsular morphology as modern Koelreuteria the ecology section is taken to be discussing the fossils and modern species.--Kevmin § 14:50, 10 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
