Fair use rationale for Image:Haldir.jpg

edit

Image:Haldir.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:14, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is no article for A Twist in the Tale, but linking directly to William Shatner seems like the wrong approach.

Questionable source regarding personal life

edit

I think this poorly cited source here should be removed and Approach 5 should be taken at least until a second or alternative source is provided. A higher-quality WP:BLPRS should be required for such a personal and WP:BLP-sensitive claim. The source in question has been controversial and debated since it was first added. Also, the fact that there hasn’t been another source of any kind in 15+ years attesting to this makes it even more disputable. Nevertheless, Craig Parker has always been outspoken about valuing his privacy and wanting to keep his personal life private… I believe that his wishes and privacy should be respected on this matter until a more verifiable source is found. Oppose Source is mainstream and accurate. Parker came out publicly. Partyclams (talk) 08:43, 29 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I respectfully disagree. The source is a WP:NEWSBLOG at best. Its reliability is not verifiable, which is required for a WP:BLPRS. By Wikipedia's policies, a secondary source should be provided before this claim is stated as a fact. NicR77 (talk) 15:48, 29 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oppose: The source is mainstream, owned by Paramount Media Networks (formerly MTV Networks). As such the reporters were employed by MTV News, and none of its stories were WP:UGC. - BlueboyLINY (talk) 17:57, 29 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Actually, that is false. Upon further research, the true original source from January 19, 2010, here was published by a personal and/or group blog. Its content was later merged with NewNowNext.com without any modifications. (Which would explain the articles’ spelling/grammatical errors and lack of a cited source as you would expect from a self-published blog.) NewNowNext would still be considered a WP:NEWSBLOG as it was a news blog owned by Logo TV (which is not a news organization, by the way) and its writers may or may not have been professional. Regardless, the article in question was originally a WP:SPS which should never be used as a WP:BLPRS and is in direct violation of WP:V policy on WP:BLP. See: WP:BLPSPS. Support: the original source was "Michael Jensen's blog" from AfterElton which was dissolved 10 years ago and had its content merged with NewNowNext.com.
From a WP:WEIGHT perspective I will also say this. We don't talk about the sexual orientation of the subject in 99% of the biographical articles on Wikipedia. If the only source we have on his orientation is that he allegedly slipped out that he was gay one time to a New Zealand interviewer 17 years ago, then there is no way that carries enough weight to be mentioned. ເສລີພາບ (talk) 04:10, 1 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
