Mentioned in supernatural series

Is it worth to add an entry in Pop culture about Cassiel being mentioned in Supernatural in Sep 2008? Maybe they are going to mix it up, but it seems to be an angel in the series.

Castiel in the Supernatural series is referred to "CasTiel" (the angel of Thursday) not Cassiel. They are both different angels.81.70.218.238 (talk) 15:50, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

'Supernatural' fans keep vandalizing this article

FYI, I just thought I should mention that there's absolutely nothing in Kabbalah about Cassiel and a "Righteous Man", not much is known about Cassiel in the first place. "Destiel" account blocked

I noticed that Bryanaa_hollyy (talk · contribs) was an account used by the "Destiel" vandal and blocked it as a vandalism-only account. That means that any of this "Destiel" bullshit can be reverted indefinitely due to block evasion (no 3RR for anything that mentions "Dean" or "a righteous man" or falling in love), and that any IP addresses used to add that stuff can be reported for their first action (not just after warnings). Cassiel and Castiel

Cassiel ("God is my wrath") and Castiel ("my cover is God") do not appear to be the same, as the meanings of their names are different. Are there any sources mentioning that they are the same angel? --2804:2FB0:407:AC00:D83F:6FDA:15BA:EC7 (talk) 14:08, 23 October 2023 (UTC)

On the confusion between different 'variations' of Cassiel

There are multiple variations of 'Cassiel', and the article isn't always clear about which variation it is speaking about, to the extent that I think the original author themself got confused.

This is mainly evident in the "In Jewish mystical literature" section; the first sentence reads:

"Cassiel is invoked in an ancient Hebrew charm to tell if an enemy is running away.^[12]"

Where the citation is to an entry for Qafsiel in "A Dictionary of Angels, Including the Fallen Ones, Davidson, Gustav (1971)". To avoid confusion I think it would be best to phrase the sentence "As Qafsiel, Cassiel is invoked...". The confusion I aim to avoid is illustrated in the next paragraph, where the article says:

" Gustav Davidson writes that Cassiel is described as the ruler of the seventh heaven in 3 Enoch, citing Odeberg's edition.^[12]"

However, Davidson does not cite Odeberg's edition in Cassiel's entry, only in Qafsiel's (which is also the entry that the article cites). In that entry, Davidson does not say that Qafsiel is the ruler of the seventh heaven, but instead;

"In 3 Enoch Qafsiel is guardian of the 7th heavenly hall."

The article then goes on to say;

"However, Odeberg's edition only states in a footnote that Cassiel is "(one of) the guardian(s) of the door of the seventh Hall" in Hekhalot Rabbati.^[13]"

Technically, on page 55 Odenberg's edition does state that, however, on page 4 he also states:

"Qafsiel is here evidently the guardian of the seventh Hall."

Which is likely the citation that Davidson was referring to, so this correction of Davidson in the article seems to be a mistake. That is, unless the author confused the 'Cassiel' for 'Qafsiel', because when referring to 'Cassiel', Davidson says:

"Cassiel is [...] a ruling prince of the 7th Heaven"

Altogether, even though they are all names for the same angel, using only 'Cassiel' seems to create more confusion than it avoids, and also I believe loses some of the nuance w.r.t. the origins of the different variations. I would just add my edits directly to the page but don't feel confident enough in my knowledge, so I'm hoping someone that knows more can correct either me or the article.
