Source: 'The Anglican Journal, the 151-year-old official newspaper of the Anglican Church of Canada’s will drop its journalistic commitments and focus on church communications, ensuring that its writing “unequivocally supports the mission of the church.”' (The Living Church) 'The 151-year-old paper will no longer publish journalism, but will ensure that writing in the Journal “unequivocally supports the mission of the church.” At a June 12 meeting of the Council of the General Synod... the group of about 30 people voted unanimously to make the Anglican Journal “the voice of the Anglican Church of Canada and part of its larger communications strategy rather than a separate journalistic enterprise.”... Tomlinson is paraphrased as adding that it is no longer possible to sustain the tension between corporate communications and independent journalism, a situation he said came with potential institutional risks that could not be effectively managed.' Oh, I hate that. And even the church announcement reads like corporate newspeak. On topic, article is new enough and long enough. Hook fact is interesting.
