The attacks are over

Much of the coverage of the attacks after May 1 is just routine coverage of the war in Mali dealing with the siege of Bamako, and the primary topic of this page is the April 25 attacks and immediate aftermath. I think we should change the end date of the attacks to May 1 to reflect that widespread attacks were no longer being reported as of then. The siege may be regarded as started as a result of it but part of the war as a whole and the offensives, for sure, have ended. Cuz if not, we can regard the Balochistan attacks early this year into an offensive continuing till the present day. attacks have resurged, some positions have been captured by jnim, africa corps published fpv drone and air striked, check brantphilip osint. however, i do not know if these informations should be added here or on the mal war general page. i guess the ongoing second siege of the capital still counts, however, in june, so far jnim has acted mostly on their own, with fla being mostly dormant, exept for one fpv strike Demeseriecroitor (talk) 15:46, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Remove Azawad in the toolbox about Africa corps leaving parts of Northern mali

Map Update

The mali war map should be changed.It should include some positions that have been visually captured by JNIM in the south and centre of the country, but it should also include contested territory, or a no man's land, as neither FAMa or the militants have a real grip on certain communities that are out of their reach.

In some cases, it has been noted that certain communities directly negociate with JNIM, without the central government. There should probably be a contested road between gao and anefis, as certain elements of FAMa and the Africa Corps did manage to reach the town, but they do not have full control of the road between these two towns, having been ambushed many times.

For example, I think the wiki map for the Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon would work best here, as it would showcase the ground situation a bit better, since the borders keep fluctuating and militants have a habit of holding onto towns only for a couple of days. In any case, this kind of map would also work for the wider sahel war, for example, islamist militants from IS have been noted to take some positions along the Niger-Nigeria border, expanding the conflict to other places, not just the densely populated western part of Niger Demeseriecroitor (talk) 08:12, 13 July 2026 (UTC)

Rename this article to separate events

The attacks from April 2026 are long over and all the events followed are practically unrelated now so I feel such a grand encompassing article seems to be rather out of the ordinary, especially among the detailed articles for major events of the Mali War already, only 2026 seems to have been grouped. Wikipedia Français separated this into April events and subsequent battles, that seems to follow the general framework of articles already created better. Quangsp (talk) 08:59, 22 July 2026 (UTC)

I disagree with calling the current fighting around Anefis unrelated to the April offensives. This one seem to be part of a greater offensive by FLA. There have been consistent smaller skirmishes and military actions occuring in Northern Mali since April. I did just create a page for the battle

I think fighting elsewhere in the country is unrelated to any greater offensive, it seems like the standard pre offensive fighting. CautiousHabliut (talk) 23:06, 22 July 2026 (UTC)

hard disagree, a military offensive can have multiple phases, but still have the exact same goal, that being, at least in the case of the FLA, the conquest of northern mali. there are also constant ambushes conducted by JNIM on convoys, same strategy used in april for kidal. I also believe that wikipedia francais should have not separated them. for examples of military offensives with multiple phases, see the tet offensive in vietnam(3 phases), operation barbarossa, or the 2024 syrian opposition offensives.
