History
editThe company was founded in 1932 and established as New Park Mining Company.
In 1968, the company entered the oil field business with the purchase of SOLOCO and later became Newpark Resources in 1972. In 1998, the company launched the first composite mat on the market - DURA-BASE® Advanced Composite Mat System™. [2] [3] As mentioned in this Segment from Advancements with Ted Danson, a composite mat is an engineered high performance thermoplastic work platform, which is designed to interlock with each other to form a contiguous structurally sound work surface.[4]
Years later in 2013, the company established presence in UK and EU markets through the acquisition of Terrafirma. In 2016, the company launched an additional product called the DURA-BASE EPZ Grounding System. The need for site access solutions increased allowing the company to expand its presence across the Northeast through WGS and UAS acquisitions in 2017. In 2021, the company continued its growth by expanding across the Northeast through the acquisition of Lentzcaping. In 2024, NPK International, Inc. was created in the successful divestiture of Newpark Resources. In 2025, NPK International, Inc. further expanded its UK presence by acquiring Grassform Group (now known as Grassform Group, an NPK Company).[5]
