He joined Newegg in 2006 and later held executive roles at OTTO Group China and Haier Group before returning to Newegg as Chief Executive Officer.[2]

Chow received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Toledo in 1989 and earned a Master of Business Administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in 2010. [3][1]

Career

edit

Chow has held executive positions at several global e-commerce companies. He served as vice president of Newegg's North American business from 2006 until 2008, when he relocated to Shanghai to become chief executive officer of both Newegg China, which oversees the company's China operations, and OZZO Logistics, a Newegg subsidiary providing third-party logistics services.[4]

In 2011, Chow became chief executive officer of OTTO Group China, the Chinese division of the German retail and e-commerce company Otto Group, a position he held until 2015. He then served as vice president of Haier Group Corporation from 2015 to 2019, overseeing its incubation and microenterprise business and leading e-commerce and retail integration initiatives. [4]

Chow rejoined Newegg in 2019 and became CEO on March 1, 2020. Under his leadership, Newegg turned around, as he prioritized relationships with ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, and ASRock to refocus the company on DIY computer enthusiasts. One outcome of this strategy was the October 2020 rebranding of the ABS line into Advanced Battlestations, a relaunch further supported by partnerships with Intel and Nvidia, whose latest CPUs and GPUs anchored the new focused portfolio.[5][6][7]

In May 2021, Newegg completed a merger with Lianluo Smart Limited and began trading on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker symbol NEGG. Chow participated in the Nasdaq closing bell ceremony following the public listing.[8]

Newegg introduced SellingPilot, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) multichannel marketplace management solution supporting marketplaces including Amazon, Walmart, eBay, TikTok, and Newegg. The company also expanded the use of artificial intelligence-enabled shopping tools, including ChatGPT-integrated features within its PC Builder tool, which assists customers in selecting compatible components for custom computer builds, as well as AI-generated customer review summaries and other AI-assisted product discovery and marketplace-management tools.[9][10][11]

Chow was inducted into the Digital Ecosystem Hall of Fame in 2020 and received several cross-border e-commerce industry honors in China between 2020 and 2021, including the China Cross-Border E-Commerce Person of the Year Award. [12][4]

In 2021, he received the Los Angeles Times CFO & CEO Leadership Award and was inducted into the Marquis Who's Who in America biographical registry. He was also featured on the cover of China's Foreign Trade Magazine later year, and again in 2022. [13][12]
