editInherited from Medieval Tashelhit تَكُتْ (tagut, “clouds”), from Proto-Berber. Cognate with Tarifit tayyut (“fog, mist”), Senhaja de Srair, Nefusa, and Kabyle tagut (“fog”), Chenoua hawt (“fog”) and Tamahaq tagyayt (“fog”).
