I kid you not, (pun intended) once again I ran a mind boggling call of "16 yo female full term water broke." So, what was so mind blowing about this? Well, this was her third child, she's sixteen and her oldest child will turn 4 in January.  This means she got pregnant when she was about 12.  TWELVE!!!  1) What in heaven's name is her mother thinking, 2) how can the father of her oldest NOT be in prison, and 3) Has she not figured out yet what causes pregnancy?

I just think that it is time for there to be mandatory reporting of pregnancy in children under the age of 14, and consequences to the parents if it happens again before the child is 18.  The whole process is ridiculous.  How is it that some women can hold out and never even get pregnant before the age of 35, and some children have to start breeding before they graduate high school.

You know, It has been raining for 2 days here, the first clue that the stairs might be slippery is????

So why did I run 5 out of 10 calls as " Slipped and fell???"

Furthermore,  Lady, If your child has been diagnosed with bronchitis, has a rectal temp of 99.7, and you haven't given him his 4 hour dose of Motrin, What on EARTH do you think the ER is going to do for him?

you gotta see this. and I REALLY hope that some one doesn't get in trouble for practicing without a licence.

O.K. so how many of you have gon through this?

I responded to a call where a 3 y.o. had a ear ache. When I asked for the patients name, the mother said his name was (it sounded like) Dequarius. I asked her "How do you spell that?" (because we all know that the spelling of the name is not necesarily how it sounds) she responded "I don't know, hang on." the she shouted up the stairs "Mom! How do you spell D's name?" I heard a woman from upstairs shout back, "I don't know, check the medicaid card!" the woman found the card and showed it to me it. The card had the patient's name printed as follows: Deekwareeus. I asked, "Is this a correct spelling?" She said, " It must be, it's how it is on his birth certificate."
