... pray for the folks in Japan...those were Awesome waves

All is well here---
The Berkeley marina is well protected, waves have to squeeze though the golden gate, then have miles to spread out in before they come to us. There is a pretty good breakwater at the harbor entrance.
They redesigned the docks a few years back, so that All boats here face into/away from, the currents, not broadside to them, so water slips by better.

No boats broke loose.
..Which is what caused all the damage in Santa Cruz-
-Well, that was a Whole Dock, *And* Thirty or so boats..banging around in a Narrow, dead-end harbor, Where water 'piled up', then had to drain out Fast, repeat...like a bathtub, sloshing back and forth.

Here, It was like a River-(Or a whole tide cycle compressed.)
*Lots* of silt stirred up. Pretty swirls of *Currents* under and around boats.
..no big waves-
--Just tugging at the lines, as the harbor basin filled and emptied.
-It was lowish tide, so there was plenty of room to safely fill

I was on shore for the 'exciting' parts, any way.

cool. I didn't think you'd have much of a problem where you are.
