Disconnect
Listening to the WBUR extended Morning Edition broadcast as the newscasters realize some of them not only know the younger of the two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings, but they hosted him at parties at their house when he was a classmate of their relatives' kids at CR Latin.
The disconnect in my head is making me stare at the wall. I need to work today, but I just keep wanting to curl up and make a blanket fort.
This was my city for many years, though I lived on the North Shore. Boston, Cambridge, Brookline. I worked and played there since 1980, when I started college in Wenham. God, years ago. It's all on lockdown full of police, FBI, SWAT, military. This is my city(ies). I'm feeling disconnected up here in the bucolic Upper Valley, away from it all, and slightly guilty that I'm safe and away from all the problems.
Keep safe, peeps. You know we love you. Take this as a day off rather than a lockdown. Make something, do something creative, have a good glass of the beverage of your choice, hug something(one) you love.
