suzgreen. I'm a first-year student in the Educational Technology department at USC Aiken. So far, I've only taken a few courses, but I'm really excited about the program! I set up this community because I saw a need for a single place online for all Ed Tech students to gather. At the University, there isn't much time to interact; and, although many courses have online discussion areas, those disappear when a course ends. Here, with our diverse backgrounds, wide range of experience, and varied beliefs, I hope we will learn from one other while enjoying the feel of community.Friendships are important! I sincerely hope all visitors will feel at home. I assume we have many interests and concerns in common. We can talk about our families, vent about pesky kids in the classroom, or simply share a thought about a TV program. Anything goes. ...just no cussing or fighting, ok? No commercial/spam posting either.
This is a place to share things like: opinions on learning theory; knowledge of computers and other technologies; ideas to "bounce off" each other; thoughts about our courses; news from the industry; announcements of special opportunities; etc. Please don't be afraid to speak up or ask questions. Over time, a FAQ will form. Our subject Index and Links list will grow. So, the more you contribute, the better!
The technical stuff: In order for you to post messages in our community, I will need to activate your LiveJournal user-name. (This is so we don't end up with a bunch of weirdos wandering around here.) Signing up for a user-name at LJ is free, and you do not need to provide any personal information. If you haven't chosen a name yet, I ask that you use your real name, or some form of it. It's a fact that online communities are healthier and more useful when "human" identities are attached to messages.
After you click the link above to join this group, I will receive an e-mail message alerting me that you wish to sign up. I'll then activate permissions for you to begin posting. If you also send e-mail to me via your USC address, I'll know right away that you are an appropriate applicant. It's not required, but I'd feel better if you do so.
More announcements will come later. Right now I'm just getting us up and running. Be sure to let me know if you have any questions or there's anything I can do to make this website better (including corrections to my use of punctuation!). I'll be here every day.
