Consequences
Spoils Parting of the Ways. Ninth Doctor, Rose. Not in response to any challenge; I hope that's ok.
The Doctor stared in horror at the TARDIS. It couldn’t be here. He only knew a few ways to bypass Emergency Program 1, and none of them ended well.
The doors opened to reveal Rose, backlit by the Vortex. An ache started deep inside the Doctor. She’d tampered with it to save him, and she didn’t even know what the consequences could be.
As she talked, he cursed himself for thinking he could save her. He should have known from the start he’d have nothing more than death to offer her.
She saved him. Saved the universe.
Inside he wept.
