Instant Air Dash

From Dustloop Wiki

An Instant Air Dash (IAD) is quickly jumping and air dashing from a standing position.

Performing an IAD

Traditionally IAD is performed by inputting 956 while standing.

An air dash is performed by inputting 66 while airborne. The 9 counts as both a jump input and a forward input. The 6 finishes the air dash input. Try to input the IAD with the same timing you would enter a normal dash.

Minimum Height Restriction

When rising from a jump, characters must reach a certain height before they can air dash (varies by game). Try speeding up or delaying the timing of 6 if your character jumps but does not air dash.

Mid-Combo IAD

Performing an IAD mid-combo might require different timing due to hitstop keeping characters grounded longer. Delay the jump input until near the end of hitstop, or not do an IAD and instead input 66 manually after jumping.

Backwards IAD

IADs can be performed for both forward air dashes and backwards air dashes, the concept is exactly the same, just reverse left/right inputs.

Dash Button

Games that can use buttons for dashes can do the same thing by pressing any upward direction, then pressing the dash button.
