In rescue, we often say "It takes a village" and "We'll move mountains to save a dog."
Today, those aren't just words.
Late yesterday, we received a call about five 8-week-old Doberman puppies that were being surrendered to a southern shelter. There was no room, and they desperately needed a rescue to step up.
We immediately said YES.
But when they arrived at the shelter today, our hearts sank.
Instead of five healthy puppies, only four arrived... and every single one was critically ill.
Their diagnosis...
๐ฆ **PARVOVIRUS.**
Tomorrow morning, one of our incredible volunteers will begin the long drive to meet these puppies in West Virginia, where our veterinary team is standing by with life-saving monoclonal antibody treatment, IV fluids, medications, and supportive care.
These babies are only 8 weeks old.
They are emaciated.
They are dehydrated.
They are fighting for every breath and every heartbeat.
The fifth puppy is missing, and we don't know what became of him.
What is Parvo?
Parvo is one of the deadliest viruses a puppy can face. It attacks the intestinal tract and immune system, causing severe vomiting, bloody diarrhea, dehydration, and overwhelming infection. Without aggressive treatment, many puppies don't survive.
Even with treatment... there are no guarantees.
But we refuse to let these puppies fight alone.
