Just a by the way : disabled people can be ableist too.
Sometimes I still struggle with this.
Just because you have a disability does not mean you are immune to being ableist. A lot of disabled people seem to they cancel out and they don’t.
You need to recognize you can have ableist opinions sometimes. You need to realize you are not exempt from criticism just because you have a condition.
Some people with personality disorders can be ableist towards those with more stigmatized disorders.
People with higher pain tolerances can be cruel to those who can’t handle pain as well.
We need to be kinder to those who have different disabilities than us. To those who have different needs than us. We need to recognize we are not immune to prejudice.
