Another tip for DDG - if you want to permanently get rid of DDG's AI features (which you can turn off in settings, but only temporarily) - for now you can just use noai.duckduckgo.com as your search engine. Works as advertised in the name.

Like I just saw a post about movies “getting worse” and using the top grossing films of the past couple of years to back it up and like- yeah major studios are becoming more averse to picking up projects that arent adaptations or remakes or extensions of some bigger franchise.

But also? Original movies get released every year?!??? the 5 movies that grossed the most arent the only ones that drop and absolutely aren’t the only ones that are talked about. Like yeah Barbie made a shit ton of money last year, but also we got Killers of the Flower Moon and Bottoms and All of Us Strangers and fucking Cocaine Bear. The exact movies you want to watch are in theaters. They are on streaming. They are being made. We can have the conversation about access, but if you just want to complain that only Marvel movies are being made, then I think maybe you should google what your local theater is showing right now, if for no other reason to see how wrong you are.

like off the top of my head cookoo- longless- trap- blink twice are original movies in theaters right now if you live in a bigger city you might have didi playing near you like see what the actors you like are doing! scroll through youtube and watch trailers or see what your friends are talking about the first step for the kinds of original stories to make it onto those highest grossing lists is for you to yk...go watch the movie but also if we are only judging the zeitgeist by dollars earned then yeaaaaah youre gonna feel helpless because what makes the most money isnt even always the most culturally relevant char.txt

it really is crazy how quickly people were willing to just let chatgpt do everything for them. i have never even tried it. brother i don't even know if it's just a website you go to or what. i do not know where chatgpt actually lives, because i can decide my own grocery list.

Fun fact, on top of being staunchly against genAI, ellipsus literally has an Export To AO3 button. I do the majority of my writing in LibreOffice, but I've been moving all my GDocs over to ellipsus for a bit and I really love the interface. If you're looking for an alternative to GDocs, this is The One.
