Day two

[Jordan finally stirs from her sleep. She tried to move, but feels rather stiff, once she feels alright, she slightly sits up and looks around the area, she is in what appears to be in a tent. Closing her eyes she tries to remember what had happened, though all she can remember was boarding a plane in Sydney, then it’s just a blur from there. Sighing deeply, she stood up slowly, waiting to see if she had balance. Once she felt alright, she took a couple of steps then walked out of the tent. The brightness of the sun made her squint. She had no idea where she was. She hoped Jack wasn’t far. She realised she was on some sort of beach, and a lot of people and plane wreckage were scattered, she felt scared. She tried to avoid any eye contact with people she didn’t know. Some faces were slightly familiar as she remembers seeing them on the plane, she saw a woman that sat across from Jack, but it seemed to her she was praying, so Jordan walked right past her. She kept on walking until she found Jack amongst wreckage, looking for something. She stopped and watched him]

[Jack looked up to see Jordan wandering around. Jumping he ran over to her, putting his arm around her shoulders]

Jack: "How are you feeling? You shouldn't be up."

[Jordan crosses her arms, rolls her eyes and sighs when Jack puts his arm around her]

Jordan: "I'm fine Jack, really. If I was laying down anymore, I'd go crazy."

Jack: Jordan, have you seen the cut on your stomach? The more you move around the more likely you are to rip open the stitches...

[Jack stands in front of his sister, his hands on her shoulders]

Jordan: I'm being careful okay? I was getting too stiff. You know I remember someone saying telling me that staying in bed all day, isn't healthy.

[Jordan quirks an eyebrow]

[Jack throws up his hands, frusterated by Jordan's remarks]

Jack: Fine do whatever you want! I'm only trying to help you cause I care about you Jordan.

[Jordan closes her eyes for a moment, and opens them again, she lightly touches Jack's arm]

Jordan: I'm sorry, I know you do Jack. Look, I'll go back down, once I've been up for awhile. Is that alright?

[Jack nods, as he follows her up the beach back to her tent]

Jack: You drink some water too, don't want to get dehyrated

[Jordan looks back at him with a small smile]

Jordan: I'll make sure I do.

[Jack stands there awkwardly, wanting to stay by his sister's side but he can see Kate trying to set up her tent.]

Jack: Uh...do you need anything else?

[Jordan turns to him and notices his awkwardness, she follows Jack's eye movent to see Kate, she turns to him again] Yeah. I was up earlier this morning and I, uh [realises she is getting tongue tied]. I couldn't find you anywhere, where did you go?

Jack: I went looking for the transciever....sorry I didn't tell you where I was going. [He ruffles her hair like she is a child]

[Jordan hits Jack's hand away as he knows not to do that, she neatens her hair again] Jack! [her eyes widen when he mentions the transciever] Did you find it?

Jack: Yeah we found it. Sayid's trying to see if it will work...so we should know soon. [He glances back at Kate, then picks up the tarp lying near his tent] I'm going to give this to Kate okay?

[Jordan nods] If Sayid is good as he says he is, then he should get it working. [follows Jack's eye movements to Kate, her heart sinks] What's going on between you two?

[Jack looks at her confused] What? Nothing is going on...I just met her Jordan

[Jordan shrugs] You just seem pretty close for just meeting her.

Jack: You see this cut on my back? [Jack pulls up his shirt to show her] She sewed that without even knowing my name, anything. I figured I owe her

[Jordan looks at his cut] Okay. So you figured you'd owe her by having a swim?

Jack: What is going on with you Jordan? [Jack throws down the tarp, frustrated by his sister]

[Jordan takes a step back] I saw you, okay? I saw you swimming with Kate!

Jack: So? We were swimming, in case you haven't noticed we don't exactly have showers around here.

[Jack is trying to be patient but he is becoming angrier]

Jordan: Just swimming?

[Jordan shakes her head] I saw your arms around her, yeah, that's just swimming.

[Jack shakes his head, anger boiling in him] Did you see the huge wave that over took us? She was choking on water, Jordan.

Jordan: No I didn't, so it must have happened awhile before. Just how long were you holding her?

Jack: You need to stop now. Go get some rest. [Jack turns to leave]

[Jordan feels hurt, and can feel her eyes swell up, but refuses to show]

Jordan: You can't tell me what to do, you're not my father

[Jack turns back to her, obviously hurt by her comment]

Jack: No I'm not! Our father is somewhere in that jungle, or that ocean. I'm the only one you've got Jordan so why don't you stop acting like a child.

[Jordan's no longer feeling hurt, but angered]

I'm not acting like a child. I wouldn't even be on this damned island, if you hadn't showed up without warning!

Jack: Oh right this whole plane crash is my fault! [Jack walks up to her, towering over her] I don't want to be here any more than you do. Have you even thought what Mom thinks? Her whole family is dead right now.

[Jordan shrugs without a care]

Jordan: Might as well be your fault! [Jordan doesn't take her eyes off him as he walks up to her] Doesn't mom know dad's already dead? She's probably not even thinking about her whole family, just him and her precious son!

Jack: Oh yeah her precious son. Give me a break, Jor. [He looks at her disgusted] I'm in no one's good books...believe me

Jordan: You are! Who did she turn to about dad? She knew he was in Sydney didn't she? Did she forget I was there too?

[Jordan shakes her head at his look]

Jack: Maybe she didn't call you because you haven't talked to her in months, Jordan. It wouldn't hurt to let her know you were alive. It wouldn't hurt to let any of us know you were okay.

Jordan: She knew I was alive, she had my number, I sent her a birthday card, didn't I?

[Jack throws up his hands in frusteration.]

Jack: I'm going to check the Marshall.

[Jordan huffs and gives up]

Jordan: Fine. Check up on everyone else. Im used to it.

Jack: Jordan, you just told me you were fine....are you okay? or do you need something?

[Jordan swallows a lump that had emerged in her throat]

Jordan: If I told you I'm fine, I am fine.

[Jordan looks away to avoid eye contact]

Jack: Fine. Then I'm leaving. I'll be back later.

[Jack turns and walks across the beach]

[Jordan looks back to him only to see him walking away, she sits on the ground and mumbles]

Jordan: Yeah, sure

Day Two

We hiked into the jungle yesterday to look for the transceiver. I would never have believed it but the co-pilot was still alive. We found the transceiver but than that noise from the jungle came and it was right outside the plane. Needless to say it’s definitely not elephants, but whatever it is; it pulled the pilot right from the cockpit window. We found him hanging in a tree, his body covered in blood.

Before the “monster” as Kate and Charlie call it took the pilot he told us that we were 1000 miles off course. They are looking for us in the wrong spot, which means that it could be weeks, or months before a rescue plan ever comes this way. On our way back from the cockpit I think Kate and I had a moment, you know like those “moments” that people have. She had this piece of hair that was in her face and it just seemed like the natural thing to do to tuck it behind her ear. Her skin was so soft against my fingertips…but it’s not like it means anything, I don’t even know her.

One of the guys, Sayid is going to see if he can fix the transceiver, then maybe we’ll be able to get a signal. Kate left with him to try and see if they can get a signal higher up in the mountains. I wish she would have waited for me to go with her.

Kate and I went swimming before she left, and this huge wave over took her and I caught her. It was so…wonderful to hold her in my arms, feeling her skin against mine. Sometimes I find myself being awkward around Kate, like earlier in the jungle, but it’s been so long since I’ve had intelligent conversations with people of the opposite sex and occasionally the things she says remind me of Sarah, when our relationship was still good. I just don’t want to be drawn to Kate because I think she needs to be fixed. There’s something between us that I just don’t want to give up on, I’m just worried I’ll screw it up.

Charlie found Jordan today. As soon as I saw her I just wrapped my arms around her and didn’t want to ever let her go. She was relatively unscathed except for the cut on her stomach which I sewed up. I know she’s hurting more than she let’s on but that’s always been Jordan’s way. She thinks I can’t tell but she’s my baby sister, and I just wish that she would let me protect her.

Memories from Day 2:

Jack and Kate’s Afternoon Verbal Copulation

[Kate is trying to set up a makeshift tent incase it rains again. Jack walks over to her, holding a piece of tarp.]

JACK: Thought you might be able to use this.

KATE: Thanks, it’ll definitely keep the monsters out.

[Jack laughs, but he can tell she’s worried.]

JACK: Kate, I want to know just as much as you do what that thing is out there.

[Kate smiles back]

KATE: Well what ever it is, it scared the hell out of me this morning, and so did you by the way.

JACK: It scared me too, Kate. I'm not saying it didn't but there's a logical explanation I'm sure. [Jack looks away and then looks back at her] How did I scare you?

KATE: When we were running from...[looks to Jack]... your logical explanation. I thought you were right behind me, but you weren't. I stopped and called for you, but you didn't answer. [She looks away for him.] I thought it got you.

JACK: I was right behind you, I wanted to make sure you found somewhere to hide but then Charlie tripped and...I'm sorry I left you [Jack bends his head as if just realizing what could have happened to her as well]

KATE: That okay Jack. [Kate lightly bumps him with her shoulder as she opened the tarp.] Everything turned out okay.

[Jack nods but he's unconvinced]

JACK: Yes but we're lucky; it didn't out so okay for the pilot.

[Kate looked down]

KATE: No it didn't.

[Jack turns to her and puts his hand on her arm]

JACK: Just promise me that you'll be careful okay. If you go out there, don't go alone. I'll come with you.

[Kate looks at him and smiles]

KATE: Okay, Jack. I promise...if you do too.

JACK: Deal. Hey, want to go for a swim?

KATE: Now?

JACK: Yeah come on! It will be fun.

KATE: Let me change into my bathing suit. Can you hold the tarp up to block people trying to

get a free show?

[Jack smiles and nods, grabbing the tarp.]

JACK: Does that include me?

[Kate gasps and pretends to look shocked.]

KATE: Jack, just hold up the tarp.

[Jack lets the tarp hang against Kate’s tent as she changes into her bathing suit.]

JACK: Are you done?

[Kate pokes her head out of the tarp.]

KATE: All done.

[Jack lets go of the tarp and gets a full view of Kate in her red bikini. Jack starts to walk to the edge of

the water, pulling off his socks and shoes. Kate follows him]

KATE: Okay...maybe the monster can't swim.

[Jack pulls off his shirt, his stitches still red but healing.]

JACK: We won't go out far.

[Kate takes a moment to look at the tattoos on his arms before diving into a wave.]

KATE: This feels great!

[Jack follows Kate in the water, trying to avert his eyes but every now and then a small patch of her skin appears above the water and it makes him lose his breath]

JACK: I never can get used to salt water though.

[Kate swims past Jack]

KATE: Well stop drinking the water than silly.

[Just then an unexpected wave pushes Kate into Jack]

JACK: Its okay, I have you!

[Kate gasps for a breath and blushes but Jack can't see because she turns her head.]

KATE: Thanks Jack. Where did that wave come from anyway?

[Jack laughes, glad that he had the opportunity just to touch her again]

JACK: I don’t know I didn’t notice it until it was on top of you.

[Kate smiles at him.]

KATE: Thanks for catching me.

[Jack and Kate are now close to each other, every once and awhile their feet touch as they tread water in the ocean]

JACK: I don't think they're going to come for us, Kate.

[Kate looks up to the beach]

KATE: I know Jack. How you think they are going to take it?

 [Jack turns to her]

JACK: I think it might be hard for them to adjust at first; especially if we start to run out of food and water.

[Kate looks up to meet Jack's eyes]

KATE: I know.

KATE: We should go probably head back in, you should check on the Marshall.

[Jack nodded and they both swam back to shore]

Memories from Day 2:

The Trek Back from the Cockpit

[Charlie runs ahead of Jack and Kate to find Claire, leaving the pair alone as they walk towards the beach]

JACK: Kate, I don't want you to say anything about the pilot, okay?

KATE: Why not Jack, don’t you think everyone has the right to know?

JACK: Kate, they are already freaked out about the "monster" in the jungle. I don't think they need to know that it eats people as well.

[Jack steps in front of Kate's path.]

[Kate folds her arms and looks down at the ground.]

KATE:  I don't know Jack. [She looks up in to his eyes.] If you really feel strongly about this, I will trust you, and not say anything. Remember though we weren't alone.

[Jack sighs, remembering that Charlie was with them]

JACK: I'll talk to him; maybe I can catch him before he tells the whole camp.

[Kate touches his forearm as Jack turns to go]

KATE: Wait Jack. I'm glad you are okay.

[Jack smiles, touched that she cares]

JACK: I'm glad you're okay too, Kate. I was worried about you.

[Kate feels nervous about the shared emotion and looks away.]

KATE: We should go find Charlie before he talks.

[Jack reaches over and tucks a strand of Kate's hair behind her ear. Realizing that he may have overstepped his boundaries he becomes flustered]

JACK: Uh...it was in your face...and yeah let's go and find Charlie.

[Kate smiles]

KATE: Thanks...let me know if you find a hairdresser out here. I could really use one.

[Jack laughs and they continue onto the beach, where they can hear people yelling]

KATE: What do you think is going on?

JACK: I don't know I hope Charlie didn't say anything!

[Jack runs around the bush to see Sayid and Sawyer fighting, the group surrounding them.]

[Kate watches as Jack runs in to break up the fight]

Day One

Our plane crashed this morning. I can’t find Jordan and I’m worried that I might never find her. Its bad enough I had to bring my father home dead, not my sister too. I guess right now my mother thinks we’re both dead, so what does it really matter.

I met a woman today, her name is Kate, and she’s one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever met. She sewed the large gash on my back, and she was so brave about it. I knew she didn’t want to but I’m grateful that she did. I’m always fixing people but no one is ever fixing me, and it’s been a long time since I’ve had a woman care about me. It’s been almost three years since Sarah and I got our divorce and yet it feels like a decade since I’ve felt anything for a woman.

Kate’s got ghosts too; she mentioned them when we were sitting on the beach. I wanted to ask her about them but I lost my nerve, maybe I’m afraid of what I’ll find out. There’s something in the jungle, taking down trees. We’re not sure what it is, elephants maybe. I’m sure its not as bad as everyone thinks.

Memories from Day 1:

Jack and Kate’s Evening Verbal Copulation (Daily Event)

[Kate walks over to Jack who is sitting by the water's edge watching the last of the sunset]

KATE: Hey there is this seat taken?

[Jack looks up and sees Kate standing before him]

JACK: Hey stranger.

[Kate sits down next to Jack]

KATE: How are your stitches holding up?

JACK: I've been better but I think I'll survive.

[She smiles at him]

KATE: I know. I know. So am I going to say it or are you?

[Jack looks at her, confused]

JACK: Say what?

KATE: That thing...in the jungle, pushing the trees. What do you think it is? I mean it came
right up here to the beach, but we couldn’t see it!

[Jack looks somewhat relived, like it's only the monster she was talking about]

JACK: Honestly Kate, I have no idea.  Giraffes…Elephants...I don't know...

KATE: It didn't sound like a wild animal though. [Kate smiles at him] We must have all the luck. First our plane crashes, then of all the islands that we could possibly land on, we get some creepy haunted one!

[Jack laughs]

JACK: Kate its not haunted...

KATE: How do you know?

JACK: Kate there's no such thing as ghosts.

KATE: Oh, yeah, then how come I have to face them every day?

[Jack turns to her.]

JACK:  We've all got ghosts like that Kate. But you know that wasn't what i was talking about.

KATE: I know. [She looks over at him and smiles] I guess we will find out more tomorrow when we go looking for the cockpit.

[Jack stands up and turns to Kate, wiping the sand from his pants.]

JACK: I guess you're right...we should try and get some sleep before heading out tomorrow. You can...uh..sleep near me if you want, just to be safe.

 [Kate stands up too]

KATE: Thanks.

JACK: It's the least I can do.

[He goes to put his hand on her back but refrains; instead they just walk towards the people at the fire.]

Did you ever patch a pair of jeans...

Memories from Day 1:

          Kate sewing Jack’s Wound

[Kate bites lip nervously as she tugs on the thread]

KATE: I'm sorry, it's almost done. I'm not hurting you too much am I?

[Jack winces but shakes his head.]

JACK: You're a pro at this. I really appreciate it.

[Kate smiles]

KATE: I'm hardly a pro at giving someone stitches. Here, can you hand me the scissors?

[Jack reaches over for the scissors and hands them to Kate, their fingers brush against each other]

JACK: Make sure the knot is large enough at the bottom so it won't...you know...go through my skin.

KATE: Oh, sure, or first i can wrap it around another stitch to make it more secure, then double knot it. Would that be okay?

[Jack smiles and nods]

JACK: That would be great. Are you okay?

[Kate sighs]

KATE: Well, I guess I am as good as can be expected after my airplane crashed on and island in the middle of the ocean. At least I am alive.

[Kate says under her breath as she trims the extra thread]

KATE (CONT'D): If that is a blessing? Okay Jack you're all fixed. Would you like me to pour some more alcohol on it?

JACK: Yeah, if there's any left.

[He winces as she pours the vodka on the wound and then he turns around to face her, noticing her wrists]

JACK (CONT'D):Here, let me look at your wrists.

[He reaches for her arms]

[Kate pulls back]

KATE: No Jack, they're fine. We really should get back to make sure everyone is okay.

[Kate stands up and picks up Jack's shirt]

KATE (CONT'D): Here let me help you...so you don't pull your stitches.

[Kate holds up his shirt for him to slip his arms in.]

[Jack looks at Kate warily but doesn't press the issue of her wrists. He slides his shirt on and starts buttoning it up]

JACK: Thank you.

[Jack starts to head toward the wreakage but notices Kate isn't following him.]

JACK (CONT'D): You coming?

[Kate looks over at him, unsure.]

KATE: Do you want me too?

[Jack looks at her, fully realizing what a beautiful woman is standing before him]

JACK: Sure, I promise if there's any more stitching to do, I'll do it.

[Kate smiles she's not used to being wanted.]

KATE: Okay, but remember...you promised.

[Kate walks over to Jack]

KATE (CONT'D): Ready?

[Jack nods and follows Kate up the slope towards the fuselage]
