That sheep with its head in a bucket was there again this morning. It had moved about 10 feet and turned a bit, but it was still there. It was a beautiful scene: the morning mist had lifted just enough to let the sunlight stream through and diffuse in glowing yellow across the gently sloping field, with wisps of mist clinging lightly around the sheep as they stood and sat there serenely ... including one with its head in a bucket.

Occasionally I worry that my life is a bit repetitive: wake up, go to work, come home, go to sleep, repeat. But it's way more varied than standing in a field day after day with your head stuck in a bucket.

Maybe it's just shy.

Or maybe it really likes buckets.

The sheep have been in the same field for weeks now, and maybe the bucket represents progress and excitement in a way the grass, trees and fences don't.

Well, it seems to work for babies:

Yes, i've seen those!

My friend said when her baby was tiny he seemed to like being gently squashed in dad's hands in a kind of foetal position.

Yeah - I think most newborn babies like being enclosed fairly firmly (hence the popularity of swaddling). You can see why - the poor things have been wrapped firmly inside their mother for nine months and then released in to a big, wide, loose, chilly world.

Now you've given me a Bach earworm!

I won't apologise - how can Bach be bad in any way? *grin*

I think the mistake you're making is that it's a normal bucket. Actually, it's an Internet enabled VR-Bucket. The iVRb features immersive 360° vision and surround sound, with a direct neural connection to enable the sheep to post to Usenet and write for The Guardian.

Cool. Accounts for a lot of things about Usenet and the Guardian, too.

This worries me. If its head is in a bucket, that means it can't eat. And its head might swell up. Shouldn't someone try to rescue it?

Hmm - maybe its head has already swollen up, which is why it's stuck in the bucket?

Yes when I was doing that 3 positive things thing last week, I became a tad worried that everything seemed to be either food, TV or getting things done at work. I am now supposed to be recounting 3 things that don't fall into that pattern.. hmm..

( i also got yelled at for having food as a positive thing when my "goal" is supposed to eb to lose weight. I don't think that's a very positive attitude!!!)

You could always try sticking your head in a bucket?

But will it make me happy!

It certainly seems to be working for the sheep. Don't knock it till you've tried it, I say.

Poor foolish sheep. I hope it's not stuck there. Photo please? :-)

Will try next time I'm passing - assuming it's still there. If not I'll just go for the bucket and the sheep separately and Photoshop it back in :-)
