Aren't you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The the_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.

Doing things free?

I keep popping back and being a bit sad to see this place so quiet - so thought I'd give a nudge and see if anyone's still out there?

I've written a bunch of articles about London and other stuff over the last few years, but writing one recently on Free things to do in London made me remember this community. I hope it's of interest. Also broadly relevant is How to save money while visiting London. They're probably geared more towards visitors than residents, but I hope they're useful to someone and can spark some discussion.

I'm moving to Barnes next month, woo!

FREE ROLLER DERBY!

we urgently need an audience for a bout to be filmed for TV on Thursday.

Inglis Barracks
Formerly Inglis Barracks
Bray Road
Mill Hill
NW7 1SL

Map!!!

Be there for 8, filming to start at 8.30. Bring signs and stuff.

It's going to be a real bout in terms of competitiveness (as usual, no script, no fake-ness) but doesn't form part of the season games or anything, we're putting it on for this TV show.

Please pass this on to anyone you know who may be free on Thursday and wants to spend a fun evening being on TV, watching a TV programme being filmed and of course watching some roller derby.

please pass this on to anyone you think may be interested, London Rollergirls need you!

facebook event here

Anyone wanting more info can email me - maybetwisted[at]londonrollergirls[dot] com.

Cheers m'dears!

p.s. also a good opportunity to see some FREE roller derby for those of you who haven't made it to see a game yet due to event clashes/cash-flow issues!!!

Love is the drug - 23rd August - poetry by Regent's Park boating lake

Love is the drug. Copyright Jenna Patrick 2009. All rights reserved.

Trees, Birds & Bees - 23rd August, 2009

5pm – 8pm at The treeHouse Gallery.

Regents Park (North-West side of the Boating Lake. Directions below).

NO booking required: FREE event.

The sight of tree houses on the banks of the boating lake in Regents Park has made us go all weak in the knees. Join us on August 23rd for an evening of slushy love under the canopies.

Warhorse Theatreworks will stage a performance of Chaucer’s ‘Parliament of Fowls’ and other luscious verse; the Beekeepers have buried mystic tales of love and temptation between Merlin and Vivien, the lady of the lake, in magical staffs; write the love note you’ve been dying to send; start a game of kiss chase; make a paper crane to hang in the trees and , if you’re lucky, get invited on a fantasy date.

With romantic nooks, elderflower wine and a swing for two, it’s the perfect place to bring a date or perhaps find a new mate… anything is possible with trees, birds and bees.

Phone Tim on 07905 277719 for more details, or email info at thebeekeepers dot com.

Looking for some volunteers tomorrow night

This is short notice, but I figure it can't hurt to put the word out...

I am going to be on the 4th plinth in Trafalgar Square between 10pm and 11pm tomorrow (Monday) night. My plan is to take pictures of the crowd in the square (I admit that this is not the most original plan in the universe, but it is my plan, nonetheless). Which means I need a crowd, and in a perfect world I need that crowd to be interesting looking.

So, please, if you're at a loose end tomorrow night, put your glad rags on, and swing by Trafalgar Square, and lets see if we can't get an interesting looking crowd of people there. It's for Art, donchaknow? :)

    Cheers.

    plug for Saturday

    Hi,

Just a quick message to remind you that THIS SATURDAY, 27TH JUNE sees the return of the indomitable EARGASM to the mighty venue that is the RAILWAY, Hackney Central.

We've already been polishing our 45s in readiness, have changed the bulb in the police light, and hope to see you from 8pm onwards. Don't forget that the Railway is now licensed til 3AM(!) so this should be a good one.

As always, we'll be indulging your household goods related urges with the amazing prizes in our soon-to-be-legendary Crap Tombola (star prize is once again a ladle) and have another fantastic guest DJ in the person of Lauren Ding of the frankly amazing ETHICAL DEBATING SOCIETY - one of North London's hottest Riot Grrrrrrl punky-screamy combos ever.

Go on, save the cost of a taxi back from Shoreditch whilst still managing to avoid having to watch four hours of crap sitcoms. Let's drink lots of cider - have lots of fun. You know you want to. See you at Eargasm!
