Political Spending in the United States: Analyses of Political Influences on the Allocation of Federal Money to Local Environments

Abstract

Where the American Federal Government spends its budget is an important influence on interstate variations in social well-being. This spending is not entirely directed at matching needs, however. Instead, allocations to states are influenced by a number of political variables, the operation of which is described and tested for here.
