Too many people think that "the patriarchy" refers to a social class of all-powerful, ontologically evil, illuminati-like "Oppressor Men" who secretly control everything, rather than referring to sexist, heteronormative, transphobic norms in our society.

So it becomes very difficult to have conversations about misogyny/homophobia and transphobia/etc. when people's efforts are more focused on classifying everyone into clear-cut "perpetrators" and "victims" instead of discussing what these harmful societal norms actually are and acknowledging that anyone can perpetuate them.
