Bishop Mario Alberto Avilés, C.O.Born in Mexico City, Mexico, on September 16, 1969, Bishop Mario Alberto Avilés joined the Congregation of the Oratory of St. Philip Neri in 1986 and was ordained to the priesthood on July 21, 1998. Formed in philosophy and sacred theology in Mexico City and Rome, he has served the Church as a parish priest, educator, and leader within his congregation. After eight years of episcopal ministry as Auxiliary Bishop in the Diocese of Brownsville, Pope Leo XIV appointed him the ninth bishop of the Diocese of Corpus Christi on December 1, 2025. Bishop Avilés was installed on January 28, 2026.
