The Programmer Who Reads Charts: From Codes to CandleSticks

GM.

Today’s article is going to be a little different.
I’m taking a break from the usual stuff to talk about something more personal — me, what I do, and the journey I’ve been on so far.

My name is Atseruekpe Jude, and at the time of writing this, I’m 18 years old.
I come from the vibrant heart of Africa straight out of Nigeria, where the hustle and bustle never stops. Every day is a grind, and everyone’s trying to make something out of nothing.

I’m from a family of five. I’m the second-born and the first son.
Life’s been fairly comfortable, and I’ve got good parents who always do their best for my siblings and me. But deep down, I’ve always felt this fire like I’m meant to do more, be more. I’ve never been okay with just “average.” Something inside me constantly says, “There’s more in you.” And I believe it.

From a young age, I was drawn to technology.
Whether it was Sci-Fi movies or watching cool stuff happen in the tech world, I was hooked. I especially loved those scenes with hackers green code flying across the screen, keys clacking like crazy. It gave me chills every time. I didn’t fully understand it back then, but I knew I wanted to be part of that world somehow.

Then when I turned 15, everything changed my dad got me my first laptop.
That’s when I discovered Python. I started learning it through YouTube videos. At first, it was just fun typing little things and seeing the computer respond. But that fun quickly turned into an obsession. I found myself diving deeper, building small projects, and writing my own programs within a few months.

Naturally, I wanted more. So I jumped into Front-End Development and just like before, I got obsessed again.
Day after day, I’d wake up, open YouTube, and learn for hours. HTML, CSS. I mastered the basics, built websites just for fun, and enjoyed every bit of the process.
I tried back-end too, but it didn’t excite me as much, so I let it go. For a while, it was just me building front-end sites and writing Python scripts, constantly experimenting and creating.

But then, out of nowhere… I stopped.

I don’t know why maybe burnout, maybe boredom. I was deep into anime and school at the time

And that’s when Forex Trading came into the picture.

I had always seen those red and green rectangles (as I used to call them), but I never really understood what they were. They looked cool mysterious even, but I had zero clue how it all worked.

Then one day, broke and tired of the “just manage” lifestyle, I typed into YouTube:
“Forex Trading for Beginners.”

That was the start of something new.

I began learning how the market works, how to place trades, what pips meant the basics. But it didn’t take long before I realized: YouTube can only take you so far. Everyone had their own method, their own strategy, and soon I found myself going in circles.

That’s when I knew I needed more than just videos.
I needed structure, guidance, and most importantly a mentor.

To be continued tomorrow.
Stay tuned.

Thanks for sharing your story, Jude! It’s inspiring to see such passion and curiosity at a young age, especially how you’ve bridged coding with your interest in trading and markets. That transition from programming to understanding candlestick charts and Forex feels like a natural evolution for someone who loves patterns and logic.

Your journey really highlights how learning never stops and how diverse skills can connect in surprising ways. Looking forward to your next post and how you’ll weave mentorship and structure into your growth. Keep pushing forward — the blend of tech and trading is a powerful combo with huge potential!

Thanks for the encouragement! You captured exactly what excites me most - how that coding mindset of breaking down complex problems translates beautifully to market analysis. The pattern recognition muscle is the same, just different applications. Can't wait to share more discoveries!

And I'l be sure to check on your blog
