Welcome!

Hello, everyone, and welcome! This is my fic journal for UK politics RPF, in which I torture shamelessly my favorite and less favorite British politicians (mostly Lib Dems). Everything on here has been posted first on  Lolitics_meme.

All fic is friends-locked, but I will friend back any slasher who asks.

Now this is the trouble with political fandoms...

Every so often they get so serious business that it is utterly impossible to actually have fun in them because you're too busy screaming 'NO DO NOT DO THAT WHAT ARE YOU THINKING', and 'I adore you, but I wish you didn't have actual opinions which will affect things that I rather care about' and so on and so forth

(Why does this make it harder to torture them fictionally? Surely easier would be much more logical.)

But anyway, that aside, I just want to make an Announcement:

Basically, I'm going to be moving back to my main journal, madmogs on LJ. for everything not related to politics and political fandom. I've neglected it (and by extension, many of my older friends on it) for a very, very long time, and I feel it's time I got back involved in that one, and left this one as what it was originally intended to be: a fic archive for my lolitics fic.

I'll be following all of you from madmogs over the next few days, and gradually picking up things there again after that. I may even finally get the rest of my fic uploaded here too!

random update

Yo all.

I'm on a train right now, heading north to the folks for the next few days. Currently hugely short of sleep and packed in seconds flat, so I shudder to think what I've forgotten--I'm already regretting the lack of umbrella, and I've a horrible feeling I don't have my laptop charger.

Christmas (in case you're one of the few who hasn't been on the receiving end of one of my rants) is not my favorite time of year. But there you go. This post is not the place for family-related angst. I'm braced for trouble as per usual, and that's all that need be said.

Shiny things instead:

* Going to see The Hobbit tonight with my dad. Given that I spent 2 amazing years in the dwarfy end of LotR fandom in my younger days (Legolas/Gimli was my first slash pairing before I even the what slash was) I think a new obsession is pretty much inevitable.
* Once I get through the relatives, I get to spend the new year with Talcat and Mordentlore and large amounts of terrible telly and political gossip and speculation.
* My job has been renewed for another six months! It's the most fun I've ever had while still being paid, so I'm really glad it's continuing. I'm currently studying for a SQL Server developer qualification in my spare time in order to help keep the awesome going. Plus, making data jump through hoops is fun.
* I'm working on some pretty awesome-looking jewellery projects right now. Hope to work on them at my mum's, as it's one of the few things we can do together without fights.
* Cool things are already getting sorted out for next year: Lib Dem Spring Conference, Harrogate bead fair and WOMAD music festival are being paid for now, just in case my job does end in six months
* The fic that ate my brain appears to have spawned a sequel. Whether this counts as shiny I have no idea, but it's only a matter off time before the plottings turn into words.

Lolitics tweeps, anyone want a drabble? I'm trying to get the words flowing again (nano didn't go well), and nothing succeeds at that like ransom paragraphs of porn etc. Gimme a character and a word and I'll see what I can do.

Guess who's just exceeded their mobile internet fair use policy? (Note to self, if you click a youtube link, and then see that the video is half an hour long, don't just stop the video, close the page too if you don't want a month of internet time eaten up by buffer.)

Fortunately, it'll still load web pages. Unfortunately, what it won't load is Captcha. I apologise in advance for any resulting deanons.

(It's just insulting that while it won't load Captcha, it will load all the ads. Stoppit!)

In other news, have a pic of my new flat, now with added furniture. I swear, it'll start to look flatlike soon.

I still exist

3 carloads into the housemove. OMG SO MANY BOXES WHY DO I HAVE ALL THESE BOOKS?

Also, I have lost my voice, which makes getting dad's help rather complicated. He's abandoned me at my flat with instructions not to overdo it, and has gone back to my old place to use his initiative for the next car load.

I should probably be rather scared by that...

Also, I love my new flat in spite of its many unique features (such as authentic 1960s kitchen, economy7 heating and lack of shower).

Random babblings

Morning all!

I'm currently waiting for the bus to work so thought I'd full the time with rome random updates from the life of Mog.

I love my job, but a combination of my "OMG must be perfect now if not sooner" work attitude and the killer commute mean that I'm pretty much dead by the time I get home. Which means that things don't get done, which in turn means I end up trying to do the impossible, like arrange a solo into a duet on my laptop while sitting on a crowded rush-hour train. Just need to check it through and send it off somehow by lunchtime, but I did it, so there's that.

Took some time off to go to Womad music festival this weekend, which was epic, but I was to tired much of the time to do it justice & spent a lot of time finding shady places to chill out. Still a great time though, & I got to see Orquester Buena Vista Social Club and Khaled live for the first time. Neighbour came and joined me for a day & a bit (omg, 2-man tents really aren't designed for 2 people!) which was quite fun, even if she lives for reggae and country, which do nothing for me. I caught an amazing group from Ukraine, though, and another from Tajikistan, so more than enough great times were had to compensate for 2 hours of Jimmy Cliff.

So anyway, it's back to work this week & already it feels like I've not been away.

Also, I have 2 1/2 weeks until I move house again. That won't help with the sleep deficit at all...

Don't suppose anyone wants to find me somewhere to live in Slough, do they? Commute takes 3 hours a day by public transport and I miss my fandom time.
