Triplets of Bellville: most intrepid

Meme taken from tyra_amria: Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous.

These are the ones that have been modified since February first. Collapse )

Yet I am getting more to write by signing up for the Remix Redux challenge this year. A bunch of drabbles I wrote years ago lets me qualify! The challenge has resulted in some of my favourite fics ever, and it looks like an interesting challenge to take a twist to someone's fic that way.

I've been spotty about commenting lately, and I'm sorry! I do want to try and catch up on comments. If it's any consolation, I've been losing it increasingly in most other aspects of life too (It's not a consolation to me! /WAILS). And Drabblevember seems to be on hold owing to my being overcome with writerly terror for no good reason, what's up with that.

Otherwise, manga:

What's seriously awkward? When one of your dad's old buddies, who he still talks to on occasion, applies for a vacancy at your office - that's awkward as hell. It's rather terrible to say "I hope he doesn't get the job" but IF HE DOES, aargh, aargh.

Meme from pen_over_fist: Gimme a character and I'll give you:

A) My OTP
B) The runner up
C) The anti-ship
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why

re Japan vs. Paraguay: PENALTY SHOOTOUTS ARE A BLIGHT ON THIS EARTH

And a meme taken ages ago from metaphand:
- everyone has dirty fandom secrets or guilty pleasures or unpopular opinions.
- list five of yours.
- get cries of OMG YOU TOO or WTF ARE YOU SMOKING
- profit.

And the unpopular opinion nearest and dearest to my heart: THE OXFORD COMMA RULES
because I needed to get that off my chest.

Also vital to note: vuvuzelas are awesome! I love that triumphant tin cow blare passionately. Everyone who hates them should come to South Africa and join in MAKING SOME NOISE.
I want this as an icon: Collapse )

On another note entirely: Sister's American boy has informed me of "turducken".* The American Christian fundamentalists should give up right now, because there are crimes even God will not forgive. Whatever mysterious ties binds a nation has left the whole of the USA guilty. Of course, Sister went and ATE some, so South Africa has also been brought low. Let's be friends!

*For those who'd never heard of it before either: Chicken! In a duck. IN A TURKEY.

I forgot to rec this story this morning! SHAME on me, SHAME, for yea, verily, I died of laffo and had something to ponder also. It also manages to squeeze in some of the poetry of the Bible, and that's a neat trick.

The Parable of the Shower by Leah Bobet.
"The angel of the LORD cometh upon you in the shower at the worst possible moment..."

Stop! Manga time!

Bakuman 62 to 66 - Well. Wow! You take a break from a series for a few weeks, and you come back to find that suddenly every character deserves to be shot. Collapse )

Innocently scrolling through an icon post at thecandystand, and then:

"...Huh. I bet that's how Yamamoto has sex."

Man! When bullshitting = worldbuilding indeed!

Bakuman's not quite the self-aware, layered story that the first volume made me think it would be, but I like how the main characters are totally mercenary, the interplay between art and profit, and how everyone can be professional, friendly, and silly at once. And more of the elements I liked from the first volume seem to be making a comeback, plus the other characters get steadily cooler throughout.

And uh. For some reason - okay, interesting spoiler reactions - I looked at the latest Bleach and Naruto, and: that is a damn cool power, and a single tear? A single tear? Really?

My name is Legion, for we are many.

I have joined the masses, and my celebrity crush on Neil Gaiman is confirmed. The way to my heart: TERRIBLE jokes. In Sandman - and also in some Discworld novels, by the way - the names of occult entities can be found in the all-encompassing book the "Paginarum Fulvarum". Which means......

(drumroll, please)

........The Yellow Pages.

And I explode. ♥♥♥♥

(This in spite of the fact that I got the information here, in a Sandman-reread article by Teresa Nielsen Hayden, who played a part in Racefail '09 the first. Sigh. I am a sellout for fandom. On the other hand, I tell myself that hiding away from everyone who expressed racist opinions would involve living under the bed...)

And on finally having read Skip Beat! 145:
- He did WHAT
- It's really rather frustrating to catch up on manga.
- EVISCERATE HIM, KYOKO!

...................................................The internet votes moot, founder of 4chan, as the world's most influential person and I will never recover because, on the internet, it might be true. D:

But in aid of recovery:
It's an ill wind that blows no one any good. Fandom Secrets is a hole, it's true, but somewhere in there I got a link to a recipe for cheesecake brownies, and two more beautiful words have never been put next to each other. MUST MAKE

10cm Squalo and Tsuna (and Nana. And Lambo), a touching love story scanlated by 27_group. It brings tears to my eyes! XD (Edit: locked to the community.)

I've been reading Skip Beat, because I'm nothing if not a sheep and people rec it everywhere, and oh my but the part I'm at now is heart-busting cute. The male lead is starting to make these eminently stupid faces of love. He looks like such a DOPE I want to cover him with KITTENS. And then everyone stares at him going "...this can't be real."

PS I hate everyone who can watch the new FMA anime. Everyone. /crying in a bucket
